TRAI Advisor Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is looking for an Advisor for its Regional Office in Delhi. TRAI is a statutory body set up under the TRAI Act, 1997. It regulates telecom services, protects the interests of both service providers and consumers, and has also looked after broadcasting and cable services since 2004.

This is a deputation post on foreign service terms, not an open direct recruitment. It suits a senior officer from a Central or State Government department, a Union Territory administration, a PSU, a statutory or autonomous body, or a recognised university or research institution who wants a few years in telecom regulation. TRAI will give preference to officers who have already held senior management positions.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The deputation runs for three years at first, or until you reach superannuation, whichever comes earlier.
• Governing rules: Your terms follow DoP&T OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay II) dated 17 June 2010, as amended from time to time.
• Place of work: You will be posted at the TRAI Regional Office, Delhi, not at the headquarters.
• Release by your department: Your parent organisation must be ready to release you immediately if TRAI selects you.
• Age cut-off point: The upper age limit is checked on the last date TRAI receives applications, so count your age on that day.

You fill the form online on the TRAI vacancies portal (vacancies.trai.gov.in), then download the filled form. The online step alone is not enough — a hard copy has to reach TRAI through your employer.
