The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has released Advertisement No. 017/2026 for the Maharashtra Group C Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2026. A total of 2,619 vacancies are open across five cadres in various departments of the Government of Maharashtra. Clerk-Typist alone has 1,864 posts — the biggest chunk of this drive. Who Can Apply?

• Clerk-Typist, Tax Assistant, Technical Assistant: Bachelor's degree (graduation) in any stream from a recognized university.
• Industry Inspector: Bachelor's degree in Science, or a 3-year Diploma in Engineering.
• Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector (AMVI): A 3-year Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
• Language: Knowledge of Marathi is mandatory for all posts.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 38 years old as on 01 October 2026 (the minimum age is 19 years for Clerk-Typist and AMVI).
• Age Relaxation: SC / ST / OBC / EWS / Orphan candidates get up to 43 years. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) can apply up to 45 years. Ex-Servicemen get relaxation as per rules.

Salary

• Clerk-Typist: Pay Level S-6, Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month.
• Tax Assistant: Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month.
• Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector: Pay Level S-14, Rs. 36,600 to Rs. 1,15,600 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Maharashtra Government rules.

• SC / ST / OBC / EWS / PwBD / Orphan: Rs. 294
• Ex-Servicemen: Rs. 44

These are the Preliminary Examination fees. An additional fee applies for the Main Examination.

Selection Process

The selection is done in stages with no interview:

1. Preliminary Examination: A common online (CBT) test of 100 marks, scheduled for 27 September 2026.
2. Main Examination: Post-wise main exam of 400 marks (300 marks for AMVI).
3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates get their documents checked.

There is no interview for these Group C posts.
