Majhi Vasundhara Mission Director Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Environment and Climate Change Department, Government of Maharashtra wants a senior state officer to head the Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan Directorate as its Mission Director (Abhiyan Sanchalak). The post is filled on deputation and is open only to officers already in state government service.

Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan is the state campaign, approved in October 2020, that pushes a nature-friendly, sustainable way of life built around the panchatattva: earth, air, water, fire and sky. A separate directorate and project management unit were set up in December 2020 to monitor and evaluate how the campaign is carried out, and the Mission Director leads that directorate.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• New way of filling the post: The post was earlier to be made available through the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB). A government resolution of October 2026 now says it will be filled by open advertisement, on deputation, under the General Administration Department's policy.
• Who qualifies: Only state government officers of at least Mantralaya Deputy Secretary rank, or holding an equivalent pay band and grade pay, can apply.
• Tenure: The deputation starts at three years and can be extended under the terms of the government resolution.
• Who pays: Your pay and allowances come out of MPCB funds.
• Deputation limits: The service details form checks that your total time on deputation stays within 10 years and that three years have passed since you returned from any earlier deputation.
• Rules that apply: The terms in the General Administration Department's resolutions of 17 December 2016 and 16 February 2018 govern this deputation.
