Lakshadweep Transport Sector Expert Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Directorate of Planning, Statistics & Taxation, Lakshadweep Administration wants a Transport Sector Expert under the State Support Mission (SSM) of NITI Aayog. The mission gives the Union Territory multidisciplinary technical help for evidence-based policymaking, sustainable development and governance reforms, in line with NITI Aayog's goals.

This is a purely contractual engagement based at Kavaratti. Because the notice asks for degrees in shipping, maritime studies, port management or logistics, the role suits someone who knows sea transport and logistics well and can turn that knowledge into plans, sectoral targets and the UT Vision@2047 roadmap. You will work alongside the State Institution for Transformation (SIT), the UT Planning Department, LKI and NITI Aayog, under a Team Leader.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract: The engagement is purely contractual for an initial period of two years.
• Consolidated pay: The monthly amount is inclusive of everything, so there are no separate allowances on top.
• Field experience counts: You need considerable field experience in the shipping and maritime transport sector after your highest qualification. Internship or training periods are not counted as experience.
• Preferred profiles: Work in the transport sector, programme implementation, team leadership and project management gives you an edge; experience with Government, UN agencies or international organisations is desirable, as are published research papers in the field.
• Language: You need excellent spoken and written English plus skills in the state-specific language, and the ability to communicate in a multi-cultural setting.
• Leave: You get the UT Lakshadweep government holidays plus 18 days of leave across the year.
• Process changes: The Department can modify or cancel the recruitment with approval of the competent authority, and late or incomplete applications may not be considered.
