MPSC Group-B Services Combined Main Examination 2025 – 758 Posts

Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has released Advertisement No. 010/2026 for the Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Services Combined Main Examination 2025. This exam covers four key posts across the General Administration, Finance, Home, and Revenue departments of Maharashtra. Police Sub-Inspector (392 posts) makes up more than half the vacancies, making this a major opportunity for candidates interested in law enforcement. Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must hold a degree from a recognised university or equivalent as prescribed by the Maharashtra Government for the respective post.
  • Prelim Qualification: You must have appeared and qualified in the MPSC Group-B Combined Preliminary Examination 2025. Only candidates who cleared the prelims are eligible to apply for this Main Exam.
  • Experience: For some posts, practical work experience as specified in the notification may be needed. Check the detailed notification for your post.
  • Language: Knowledge of Marathi is mandatory for all posts.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 38 years old as on 02 November 2025.
  • SC/ST/OBC/DT-VJ/SBC: Maximum age relaxed up to 43 years.
  • Ex-Servicemen: Maximum age relaxed up to 45 years.
  • Persons with Disability (PwBD): Maximum age relaxed up to 43 years.
  • Age limits apply equally to all four posts (ASO, STI, PSI, Deputy Registrar/Stamp Inspector).

Salary

  • All four posts come under Pay Level S-14 of the Maharashtra 7th Pay Commission.
  • Pay scale: Rs. 38,600 to Rs. 1,22,800 per month (basic pay).
  • In-hand salary is approximately Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 90,000 per month including allowances.
  • You will also get DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, Children’s Education Allowance and other benefits as per Maharashtra Government rules.
  • Additional benefits include PF, Pension, Medical Reimbursement and various leave entitlements.

Physical Standards (For Police Sub-Inspector Only)

Physical standards apply only to the Police Sub-Inspector post. Other posts (ASO, STI, Deputy Registrar) do not require physical tests.

For Male Candidates:

  • Height: Minimum 165.1 cm (5 feet 5 inches)
  • Chest: Minimum 79 cm (unexpanded)

For Female Candidates:

  • Height: Minimum 157 cm (5 feet 2 inches)
  • Chest measurement not applicable.

Candidates identifying as transgender can choose to be measured against either male or female standards. Relaxations in height apply for certain reserved categories as specified in the notification.

  • General (Unreserved): Rs. 544
  • OBC / SC / ST / EWS / PwBD: Rs. 344
  • Payment Mode: Online (credit/debit card, net banking, UPI via SBI payment gateway) or Bank Challan
  • Refund: Fee is non-refundable.

Selection Process

For Assistant Section Officer, State Tax Inspector & Deputy Registrar/Stamp Inspector:

  1. Written Examination (Main Exam – 400 marks): Objective-type exam with two papers covering Marathi, English, and General Studies. Selection is purely on merit based on written exam marks.

For Police Sub-Inspector:

  1. Written Examination (Main Exam – 400 marks): Same papers as above.
  2. Physical Test (100 marks, Qualifying): You need at least 60 marks (60%) to qualify. Physical test marks are qualifying only – they don’t count towards final merit.
  3. Interview: Candidates shortlisted based on written exam marks will be called for interview.

Note: Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer applies in the Main Exam.

How to Apply

  1. Go to the MPSC online portal at mpsconline.gov.in.
  2. Log in using your existing profile (you must already be registered for the Prelim Exam).
  3. Find Advertisement No. 010/2026 and click Apply.
  4. Fill in the Main Exam application form with all required details.
  5. Upload your documents – photo, signature, SSC marksheet, degree certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), non-creamy layer certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate, and other documents as listed.
  6. Pay the exam fee online or generate a bank challan.
  7. Submit the application and save the printout for your records.

Important: You cannot change any data submitted during the Prelim stage. Only new fields specific to the Main Exam need to be filled.

Responsibilities

  • State Tax Inspector: Inspect business establishments, verify GST returns, detect tax evasion, and ensure compliance with Maharashtra tax laws
  • Police Sub-Inspector: Maintain law and order, register FIRs, investigate criminal cases, lead police teams, and manage assigned police station duties
  • Assistant Section Officer: Handle file processing in the Maharashtra Secretariat, prepare government orders, draft correspondence, and assist senior officers with policy matters
  • Deputy Registrar / Stamp Inspector: Register property documents, verify stamp duty payments, detect undervaluation of properties, and maintain registration records
  • Prepare daily reports, maintain official registers, and follow departmental guidelines
  • Coordinate with other government departments and handle public queries related to your post
  • Attend training programmes and stay updated with changes in rules, policies, and procedures

Exam Pattern

The MPSC Group-B Combined Main Exam has 2 papers for a total of 400 marks. All questions are objective type (MCQ).

Paper 1 (Code 1062) – Marathi & English

  • Marathi: 50 questions, 100 marks
  • English: 50 questions (marks included in total)
  • Medium: Marathi for Marathi section, English for English section
  • Duration: 1 hour (combined for both sections)

Paper 2 (Code 1063) – General Studies & Aptitude

  • Questions: 100

  • Type: Descriptive

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer in objective-type questions.

Physical Test (PSI Only) – 100 marks

Only Police Sub-Inspector candidates have a physical test. You need at least 60 marks out of 100 to qualify. Physical test marks are qualifying only – they are not added to your final merit score.
