The Office of Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research (IC&SR), IIT Madras, has released Advertisement No. ICSR/PR/Advt.141/2026 for 1 Senior Project Associate post in the Department of Chemical Engineering. The position is initially for six months, extendable based on performance, under a sponsored research project led by Dr. Swapna Singha Rabha and Dr. Himanshu Goyal. You will combine Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with Population Balance Modeling (PBM) to study crystal nucleation, growth, and process optimization. This role suits candidates with strong CFD software skills who want to build a research career at a top institute.

Note: This is a purely contractual position. Completing the contract period does not entitle you to extension, regularization, or permanent absorption at IIT Madras.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Fresh Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (or a closely related discipline), OR M.Tech in Chemical Engineering (or related) with at least 5 years of relevant research/industrial experience
• Required Skills: Hands-on experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for multiphase flow simulations, proficiency in ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, COMSOL Multiphysics or similar software, and experience modeling gas-solid, gas-liquid, or gas-liquid-solid systems
• Preferred: Expertise in Population Balance Modeling (PBM) coupled with CFD for particle dynamics, bubble size distribution, and droplet breakup/coalescence
• Note: The qualifications listed are the minimum required — holding a higher qualification does not by itself guarantee a call for the test/interview
• Experience Relaxation: Relaxable at the Institute's discretion for SC/ST candidates if sufficient experienced candidates from these categories are not available

Salary

• You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 75,000 per month.
