CUTN Counsellor Recruitment 2026: Overview

Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), set up by an Act of Parliament in 2009, is hiring Counsellors for its student and university counselling service at the Neelakudi campus in Thiruvarur. This is a temporary contract engagement under advertisement CUTN/TE/05/2026, and the university wants one male and one female counsellor so that students can reach someone they are comfortable with.

You would be the first point of contact for students facing stress, anxiety or a personal crisis. The work mixes one-on-one counselling, group sessions and campus-wide well-being drives, and you will work closely with faculty members, hostel wardens and administrative staff. The university also expects you to take regular sessions for its Psychology students and to train student peer mentors.

The post suits trained psychology professionals — clinical psychologists with RCI-recognised qualifications, or psychology postgraduates and PhD holders with formal counselling training. Experience in a college or university setting and fluency in both English and Tamil give you an edge.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: The engagement starts for one year and can be extended based on your performance and the university's needs.
• No permanent claim: The job is purely temporary and gives you no right to permanent appointment or absorption in the university.
• Registration is compulsory: You must hold a valid RCI or NCAHP registration; the registration certificate has to go with your application.
• Shift work: You work five days a week on rotational shifts, and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays can be working days when the university needs it.
• On-call duty: You must stay reachable by phone after duty hours to handle student emergencies.
• Confidentiality: You handle sensitive student information, so strict confidentiality is part of the job.
• Missing papers: An application without educational certificates, the RCI/NCAHP registration certificate or the needed experience certificates is rejected outright.
