IIT Madras Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
Indian Institute of Technology Madras has released Advertisement No. ICSR/PR/Advt.107/2026 dated 12 June 2026 for a temporary Junior Research Fellow position under the Office of Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research. The post is linked to a research project in offshore ring anchors and shared mooring systems and will be coordinated by Prof. Bithin Ghorai from the Department of Ocean Engineering. The appointment is initially for one year and may be extended based on performance.
This role is best suited for candidates who understand soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering, offshore structures, finite element modelling, or physical model testing. The project studies how offshore ring anchors behave in soft seabed sediments when they face multidirectional cyclic loading. You should apply only if your qualification, research interest, and documents are ready before the 2 July 2026 deadline.
The research work includes large-deformation finite element modelling, 1g physical model tests, and preparation of a design framework for predicting ultimate holding capacity. This means your daily work may involve simulation, lab testing support, data checking, research notes, and close coordination with the project team.
