ICAR-IARI Senior Research Fellow & Young Professional-I Recruitment 2026 - 32 Posts

The Division of Agronomy at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa, New Delhi has invited applications for 32 contractual positions under the CSR-funded project titled "Evaluation, outreach and up-scaling of fermented organic manures for sustainably enhancing productivity and reducing environmental footprints of predominant cropping systems in India". Postings are spread across 5 states — New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Selection is by online interview — there is no written exam. Who Can Apply?

For Senior Research Fellow (Salary Rs. 37,000 + HRA):

  • Qualification: M.Sc (Agriculture) specialised in Agronomy
  • Desirable: Experience of conducting field experiments (on-farm and on-station), knowledge of soil and plant nutrient analysis, computer applications, and statistical data analysis

For Young Professional-I, New Delhi (1 Post — Salary Rs. 30,000):

  • Qualification: B.Tech or BCA
  • Desirable: Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel), familiarity with social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, X, LinkedIn), ability to create short video content, good English and Hindi communication

For Young Professional-I, UP/MP/Gujarat/Rajasthan (30 Posts — Salary Rs. 30,000):

  • Qualification: B.Sc Agriculture
  • Desirable: On-farm trial experience, knowledge of soil and plant nutrient analysis (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium), computer applications, statistical data analysis, report writing
  • Preference: Candidates proficient in the local language of the respective district/state — the role involves direct interaction with farmers

Age Limit

  • Senior Research Fellow: Upper age 40 years
  • Young Professional-I: Upper age 40 years
  • Age Relaxation: For Women, SC, ST, OBC, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates as per Government of India norms

Salary

  • Senior Research Fellow: Rs. 37,000 per month + HRA
  • Young Professional-I: Rs. 30,000 per month (fixed, no HRA)
  • The positions are temporary and co-terminus with the CSR project
  • You will be a full-time worker with no regular leave entitlement (only CL and RH up to 10 days a year)

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on the following stages:

  1. Shortlisting of Applications: Only candidates meeting essential qualifications are considered. Preference is given to those with desirable qualifications.
  2. Online Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear for an online interview between 18-21 May 2026 from 10:00 AM onward. The interview date varies by state — New Delhi & UP (18 May), MP (19 May), Gujarat (20 May), Rajasthan (21 May).
  3. Document Verification: Final stage before joining. Selected candidates must produce all original documents and a medical certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-farm field trials and farmer-field experiments on fermented organic manures
  • Carry out soil and plant nutrient analysis (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium)
  • Work closely with farmers under the supervision of the ATARI Director and KVK In-charge
  • Manage research data using statistical software and computer applications
  • Prepare project reports, interpret experimental results, and assist in scientific publications
  • Create short video content and manage social media outreach (for YP-I New Delhi post)
  • Submit progress reports directly to the Project Coordinator/Principal Investigator at IARI New Delhi
  • Engage with farmers in their local language to ensure proper field communication

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

B.Sc Agriculture / B.Tech / BCA (for Young Professional-I); M.Sc Agriculture specialised in Agronomy (for Senior Research Fellow)

Preferred Qualification

Field experiment experience, soil and plant nutrient analysis knowledge, NET/GATE qualification (for SRF); local language proficiency (for YP-I in states)

Required Skills

Computer applications, statistical data analysis, report writing, MS Excel, field-based agricultural research, farmer communication, local language fluency
