ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi is hiring 1 Principal Project Associate (PPA) and 1 Young Professional-II (YP-II) on a purely contractual basis for the MoEF & CC funded climate change project. ICAR-IARI Principal Project Associate and YP-II Recruitment 2026 — 2 Posts
The Division of Environmental Sciences, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi has invited applications for contractual positions under the MoEF & CC funded project "Assessment of Climate change related Agricultural losses for India's 3rd BTR to UNFCCC". The project runs up to October 2027 and is likely to be extended. The selected candidates will work at the IARI campus in Pusa, New Delhi-110012 on climate change assessment, decision support systems and data analytics for the agriculture sector.

Who Can Apply?
Principal Project Associate (PPA)
- Essential: M.Tech / ME / MCA / Ph.D in Computer Science, Information Technology, Atmospheric Science, AI/ML, Data Science, Data or System Analytics from a recognised university or institution with first class or OGPA > 6.0.
- More than 6 years of experience in programming and developing Decision Support Systems / web pages / Android apps with proof of such app development.
- Desirable: Experience in configuring Web Map Server; programming in C# / Python / JavaScript / .NET / Android; cloud computing; web sources; GIS tools; 3D graphics, animation and modelling; crop, hydrological and climate simulation models; econometric models; analysis of climate model data.
Young Professional-II (YP-II)
- Essential: M.Sc or Ph.D in Economics / Agricultural Economics / Social Studies / Climate Science / AI/ML / Data Science or related equivalent with first class or OGPA > 6.0 from a recognised university or institution.
- Desirable: Knowledge in data processing; programming in R / Python / LINUX; web sources / GEE / GIS tools; open-source development using APIs; crop production data analysis; Python / R / MATLAB programming; experience with both GIS and Remote Sensing tools; GEE; open-source web Geo-visualisation.
Working candidates must bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer.
Age Limit
- Principal Project Associate: Maximum 40 years
- Young Professional-II: Maximum 35 years
- Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST and women candidates; 3 years for OBC candidates
Salary
- Compensation is offered as per ICAR norms for Principal Project Associate and Young Professional-II posts under externally funded projects.
- The post is purely temporary and on a contractual basis, co-terminus with the project.
Selection Process
Selection will be done in the following stages:
- Application Screening: Applications will be screened against essential qualifications and experience.
- Online Interview: Eligible and shortlisted candidates will be invited by email for an online interview, tentatively scheduled for 30 May 2026. Reporting time and joining details will be shared by email.
- Document Verification: Original documents and a medical certificate will be verified at the time of joining.
Only candidates having essential qualifications will be considered. The Director, ICAR-IARI reserves the right to cancel/postpone the interview or specific posts without assigning any reason.

Responsibilities
- Develop Decision Support Systems, web applications and mobile apps for climate change related agricultural loss assessment under the BTR-UNFCCC project.
- Process and analyse climate model data, crop simulation outputs and hydrological model results to generate insights for the project.
- Configure Web Map Servers, GIS tools and dashboards for visualising spatial agricultural and climate datasets.
- Conduct economic and policy analysis of climate-induced agricultural losses using econometric models and large datasets.
- Prepare technical reports, scientific publications and documentation for submission to MoEF & CC and UNFCCC.
- Coordinate with project investigators, scientists and external collaborators on data sharing and methodology development.
- Maintain version control, code repositories and project documentation for software developed under the project.
