ICAR-IARI Young Professional Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) is engaging Young Professional-I and Young Professional-II for the Okra component of the National Mission on High Yielding Seeds. The work sits in the Division of Vegetable Science at the institute's Pusa campus in New Delhi and supports a focused crop-improvement programme. This is a practical seed and breeding assignment, bringing together field operations, crop management, molecular work, data handling, and project support.

The two roles are designed for different levels of technical preparation. The senior role supports vegetable breeding, molecular biology, and statistical analysis, while the other role focuses more directly on field and crop operations. If you enjoy applied agricultural work, the project offers exposure to the full chain from controlled pollination and crop care to research records and breeding decisions.

Posts and Disciplines

• Young Professional-II: A postgraduate research-support role linked to okra breeding, molecular techniques, computer applications, and standard statistical packages. Prior work in vegetable breeding or molecular biology will be especially useful.
• Young Professional-I: A field-oriented agriculture role covering vegetable crop management, emasculation, pollination, computer use, and routine MS Office work.

Post-wise Duties

Young Professional-II

You will help plan and carry out okra breeding and molecular biology work, organise experimental data, and use statistical software to support the project team's analysis. You may also guide technical recording across field and laboratory activities so that observations remain consistent.

Young Professional-I

You will support emasculation, pollination, and vegetable crop management in the project plots. Your day-to-day work will also include maintaining simple computer records and helping the team keep field activities on schedule.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: Each engagement starts for one year and may be extended after a performance review, depending on project progress and available funds.
• Co-terminus status: The roles are temporary and end with the project. Selection does not create a claim to a regular appointment in ICAR or IARI.
• Performance and conduct: Failure to carry out assigned work or maintain discipline can lead to termination under ICAR rules.
• Tax: Income tax or other applicable tax will be deducted at source under the prevailing rules.
• Travel support: The institute will not pay TA or DA for attending the interview.
• Relative declaration: If you have a near or distant relative working in ICAR or IARI, disclose the person's details in advance. Every applicant must also provide the signed declaration supplied with the notice.
• Canvassing: Hiding facts or trying to influence the process can disqualify your application or end the engagement.
