ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), Division of Genetics, New Delhi is hiring 1 Field / Lab Assistant on a purely contractual basis under the ICARDA-funded project titled "Quality Improvement in Wheat" (26-02). ICAR-IARI Field / Lab Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi has invited applications for one contractual position of Field / Lab Assistant in the Division of Genetics. The role is part of the ICARDA-funded project "Quality Improvement in Wheat" and is purely contractual, non-regular, time-bound, and co-terminus with the project. There is no written exam - selection is based on screening of applications followed by an interview. Freshers and experienced candidates with 12th-class agriculture or science background can apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Essential Qualification: You must have passed Intermediate / 12th in Agriculture, Science or related subjects.
• Desirable Experience: Experience of working in field and lab, equipment handling and maintenance is preferred.
• Other Conditions: If you are currently employed in another project, you must attach a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer.
• You should not have a near or distant relative working at ICAR/IARI - if you do, you must declare it in advance.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 35 years old as on the date of interview.
• Age Relaxation:
• OBC candidates - 3 years
• SC / ST candidates - 5 years
• Women candidates - 5 years
• Relaxation is as per Government / ICAR guidelines.

Salary

• Fellowship: Rs. 20,000 per month (fixed)
• Annual increment of 10% each year
• Project end date: December 2027
• The position is purely contractual and co-terminus with the project. You will not be eligible for any regular appointment at ICAR-IARI.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is purely based on screening and interview:

1. Application Screening: Applications will be screened based on the CV and supporting documents sent by email. Only the candidates who meet the essential qualifications will be shortlisted.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be intimated by email and called for an interview on 12 June 2026 at the Division of Genetics, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi - 110012.
3. Document Verification: Original documents will be verified at the time of appointment. Selected candidates also need to produce a medical certificate from the IARI dispensary at the time of joining.

• Assist scientists with field experiments and trials under the wheat quality improvement project
• Conduct laboratory tests, sample preparation, and data recording for wheat research
• Handle and maintain field and laboratory equipment used in the project
• Maintain records of experimental data, observations and inventory of materials
• Support seed sowing, harvesting, threshing and other field operations as per project schedule
• Follow standard operating procedures and biosafety norms in the lab and field
• Coordinate with project scientists and senior researchers for daily assignments
• Prepare basic progress reports of field and lab activities
