IARI SRF and YP-II Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) is engaging a Senior Research Fellow and Young Professional-II for the Bottle Gourd component of the National Mission on High Yielding Seeds. Based in the Division of Vegetable Science at Pusa, New Delhi, the team works on better crop material and research support for a central seed mission. Both appointments belong to the named project and do not lead to a regular ICAR-IARI post.

Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Research Fellow: a research-focused role for candidates trained in vegetable science, genetics, plant breeding, biotechnology, or an accepted related discipline, with the prescribed degree route or national eligibility credential.
• Young Professional-II: a project-support role for postgraduates in vegetable science, horticulture, genetics and plant breeding, seed science and technology, biotechnology, or allied life sciences.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Research Fellow

You will contribute to bottle-gourd breeding and biotechnology research, organise experiments, and help the scientific team turn observations into usable findings. The desirable profile points to vegetable breeding, molecular breeding, computer use, and research communication, so the role suits someone comfortable moving between field or laboratory work and data analysis.

Young Professional-II

You will help with germplasm phenotyping and biotic-stress screening, support molecular-breeding activities, and keep research observations organised. You may also handle datasets, use computer applications for routine project work, and assist with basic statistical analysis for the project team.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: the initial engagement runs up to the stated project period and may be extended until the project ends, subject to satisfactory performance and applicable funding rules.
• Project linkage: both appointments end with the project and do not create a right to regular appointment, absorption, or continued employment in ICAR or IARI.
• Shortlisting: ICAR-IARI will screen the applications and email interview information only to shortlisted applicants.
• Travel costs: no TA, DA, or other interview expenses will be paid.
• Confidentiality: selected staff must follow laboratory safety, biosafety, and data-security practices; project data, material, know-how, and intellectual property remain with ICAR-IARI.
• Disclosure: you must declare any near or distant relative working in ICAR or IARI using the prescribed format.
