The Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB) has released Advertisement No. 439/2026-27 to fill 1 Occupational Therapist, Class-3 post under the Health and Family Welfare Department's Medical Services wing. This is a Special Recruitment Drive reserved only for persons with disabilities, meant to clear a backlog vacancy for candidates in the Blind and Low Vision categories (40% to 100% disability). Only Divyang candidates from Gujarat are eligible, and selection happens through a competitive written exam.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from a university recognized by the UGC or set up under a Central/State Act.
• Computer Knowledge: You need basic computer knowledge (a certificate, diploma, or 10th/12th pass with computer as a subject). If you don't have this yet, you can still apply, but you must submit the certificate before your final appointment.
• Language: You must know Gujarati or Hindi, or both.
• Disability Category: Only candidates with Blindness or Low Vision (40% to 100% benchmark disability) are eligible for this post.
• Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen, or hold a nationality allowed under the Gujarat Civil Services rules.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 35 years old as on 13 July 2026.
• Age Relaxation for PwD: General category male candidates get 10 years relaxation (up to 45 years); general category female candidates get 15 years (up to 45 years); reserved category male candidates get 15 years (up to 45 years); reserved category female candidates get 20 years (up to 45 years).
• Candidates already working in Gujarat Government service may get further relaxation as per service rules.

Salary

• For the first 5 years, you will get a fixed monthly pay of Rs. 49,600.
• After 5 years of satisfactory service, you will move to the regular Level-7 pay scale of Rs. 39,900 to Rs. 1,26,600 under the 7th Central Pay Commission.
• You will also get other allowances as per Gujarat Government rules.

Selection Process

The selection happens in these stages:

1. Written Exam (CBRT/OMR based): The exam has 210 questions for 210 marks, to be finished in 3 hours. Part-A covers Reasoning & Data Interpretation, Quantitative Aptitude, and Constitution of India/Current Affairs/Gujarati & English Comprehension (90 marks). Part-B has subject-specific questions on Occupational Therapy (120 marks). There is a negative marking of 1/4 mark for every wrong answer, and you need at least 40% marks in both Part-A and Part-B to qualify.
2. Document Verification: About twice the number of vacancies (by merit) will be called for document verification.
3. Final Selection List: The selection and waiting list will be prepared based on your marks within your disability category.

Recognized sportspersons and widow candidates get a 5% bonus on their exam marks for merit purposes. PwD candidates unable to write can request a scribe or compensatory time (20 extra minutes per hour).
