Jamnagar MC Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Jamnagar Municipal Corporation (JMC) in Gujarat is filling specialist doctor, medical officer, food analyst, nursing and clerical posts through one set of advertisements numbered 05 to 11/2026-27. Some of these are vacant posts in the corporation's own general set-up, while others are 100% grant-based posts for the city's Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) and Urban Community Health Centres (UCHC), created under the Gujarat Health and Family Welfare Department's resolutions to strengthen urban health services. All posts are filled by direct recruitment through a competitive written exam, and JMC will prepare a select list from it. If you are a specialist doctor, an MBBS graduate, a nurse, a food analyst or a graduate looking for a municipal office job in Jamnagar, one of these posts can fit you.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Gynaecologist, Class-1 (Advt 05/2026-27): a specialist post for doctors with an MD or postgraduate diploma in Gynaecology who are registered with the Gujarat Medical Council.
  • Paediatrician, Class-1 (Advt 06/2026-27): a specialist child-health post for MD or PG diploma holders in Paediatrics, again with Gujarat Medical Council registration.
  • Food Analyst, Class-2 (Advt 07/2026-27): a food-testing post under food safety rules. You must already be declared qualified as a Food Analyst by the board notified by the Food Authority.
  • Medical Officer, Class-2 (Advt 08/2026-27): the general doctor post for MBBS graduates registered under the Gujarat Medical Council Act, 1967.
  • Staff Nurse, Class-3 (Advt 09/2026-27): the largest group in this drive, open to B.Sc Nursing and GNM holders; it is the only post with seats kept for ex-servicemen and candidates with disabilities.
  • Senior Clerk (Tax Inspector / Recovery Officer), Class-3 (Advt 10/2026-27): a revenue-side clerical post for graduates who already have experience in a similarly responsible job.
  • Clerk cum Computer Data Entry Operator (Fire Prevention Wing), Class-3 (Advt 11/2026-27): an office and data-entry post in JMC's fire prevention wing for graduates who have passed the CCC course.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Probation and fixed pay: The Class-1 and Class-2 posts carry a two-year probation on the regular pay level. Staff Nurses start on fixed pay for five years, and the two clerical posts on fixed pay for three years, under the Gujarat Finance Department's fixed-pay resolutions.
  • Reservation for Gujarat natives: Reserved posts are only for reserved-class candidates who are original residents of Gujarat. Others compete as unreserved candidates without any relaxation.
  • Women's quota: Posts kept for women go to men of the same category if no eligible woman is available, and women can also apply for posts not reserved for them.
  • Certificate formats: SEBC candidates need the Gujarati-format non-creamy layer certificate issued on or after 1 April 2024, and EWS candidates need the Gujarat-format EWS certificate. Central-government formats are not accepted for either.
  • Ex-servicemen and PwD seats: If no ex-serviceman or disabled candidate is found for the Staff Nurse seats kept for them, the seat goes to the next candidate in merit — it is not left vacant.
  • Bonus marks: Widows who have not remarried, and candidates who represented at national, international, inter-university or All India School Federation level in recognised sports, get 5% extra marks on their written exam score.
  • Computer knowledge: You need a basic computer knowledge certificate as per Gujarat GAD rules. You can apply without it, but you must produce it before appointment or your selection will be cancelled.
  • Government employees: Gujarat government staff can apply directly but must inform their office within 7 days; staff of other governments, local bodies or co-operatives need a no-objection certificate.
  • Exam travel: The written exam is usually held at Gandhinagar or Ahmedabad, and you attend the exam and interview at your own cost.
  • Vacancy changes: The number of posts may go up or down before selection.

Application Submission Notes

You apply online only through OJAS (ojas.gujarat.gov.in). A One Time Registration (OTR) on its own does not count as an application — you must fill and confirm the form for each advertisement number. No certificates are uploaded with the online form, so keep your originals ready for document verification.

  • Applying for more than one post? Fill a separate form and pay a separate fee for each post.
  • If you submit more than one form for the same post, only the last confirmed form is accepted.
  • Exam dates, syllabus, call letters and interview updates will be posted in the recruitment section of mcjamnagar.com, so check it regularly.
