GSSSB Additional Assistant Engineer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB) is filling an Additional Assistant Engineer (Mechanical), Class-3 post at the Gujarat Maritime Board, which works under the state's Ports and Transport Department. This is a Special Recruitment Drive for persons with disabilities: the board is clearing a shortfall in the disability quota, so only candidates with a benchmark disability can apply. Advertisement 464/202627 is a regular direct-recruitment opening, and the selection runs through a competitive computer-based or OMR exam.

The single post is set aside for the deaf and hard-of-hearing group (Group B). If you hold a diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or a Diploma in Automobile, which the Ports and Transport Department has accepted as equivalent, and you fall in that disability group, this notice is meant for you.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Disability group: Only candidates with the disability type shown against the post (deaf or hard of hearing) can apply. You must enter your disability type and percentage in the Personal Details part of the online form.
• Disability certificate: You need a certificate in Form V, VI or VII under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017, as the Gujarat Health and Family Welfare Department directs.
• No category-wise split: Because this is a special drive, no post is kept aside for SC, ST, SEBC, EWS, women or ex-servicemen. You still apply under your own category, and only reserved-category candidates who are originally from Gujarat are counted against their category; everyone else is treated as General.
• Unfilled post carries forward: If no suitable candidate from the marked disability group is found, the post moves to the next recruitment round instead of being opened to others.
• Fixed pay period: You join on a fixed monthly salary for the first five years. After that, if your service is satisfactory, you become eligible for the regular 7th Pay Commission scale, subject to the Supreme Court's ruling in SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012.
• Computer knowledge: You need a basic computer certificate as per the state's prescribed syllabus. You can apply without it, but you must pass the basic computer test and show the certificate before appointment.
• Language: You need adequate knowledge of Gujarati, Hindi or both.
• Bonus marks: Candidates who represented at national or international, inter-university or All India School Federation sports events, and widow candidates who have not remarried, get 5% extra marks on their exam score.
• Training: After joining, you must complete government training and pass the training exam.
• Exam law: The exam is covered by the Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023, so any cheating can lead to criminal action.

Application Submission Notes

Applications go only through OJAS (ojas.gujarat.gov.in), and you must finish One Time Registration (OTR) there first. OTR on its own does not count as an application for this post.

The fee is paid online only (debit card, net banking, UPI or wallet) after you get your confirmation number. It is refunded to candidates who sit the exam, so enter your bank details carefully; they cannot be changed later. If you apply more than once, only your last confirmed application with the fee paid counts.
