FSL Haryana DNA Division Recruitment 2026: Overview

Forensic Science Laboratory, Haryana (FSL Haryana) at Madhuban, Karnal is hiring scientific and support staff for its DNA Division on a one-year contract. The lab has a backlog of DNA cases, and this drive exists only to clear that pending casework quickly, so the posts are time-bound rather than regular government jobs. You will work under the Director, FSL (Haryana), and the engagement is made under the Haryana Police Act, 2007.

The notice covers four roles, from experienced DNA examiners who can sign reports and give evidence in court down to lab attendants who keep the lab running. The three scientific posts need real, documented forensic DNA casework experience in a State or Central FSL, while the Lab Attendant post is open to Class 10 pass candidates. Holders of the FACT / FACT Plus qualification from the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) get preference at screening.

Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Scientific Officer (DNA): the senior reporting role for M.Sc or Ph.D. holders in Zoology, Physical Anthropology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or Forensic Science with long hands-on DNA casework; court deposition experience and ISO/IEC 17025 lab exposure are a plus.
• Senior Scientific Assistant (DNA): a bench-level DNA examiner role for the same subject group, aimed at candidates with mid-level STR profiling and mixture interpretation experience.
• Scientific Assistant (DNA): the entry scientific role for M.Sc holders (at least second division) with some casework experience; exposure to evidence packaging and DNA statistics software helps.
• Lab Attendant (Support Staff, DNA Division): a support role needing no science degree; 10+2 with Science and earlier work in a forensic, chemical or pathology lab are preferred.

Reservation: Each post carries Scheduled Caste reservation as per Haryana Government policy. Reserved-category candidates from other states are considered only in the General category.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Scientific Officer (DNA)

You will examine casework, sign off examination reports under the Quality Manual, and appear as an expert witness in court when called. You will also review the DNA profiles prepared by junior staff, handle complex mixture interpretation and guide the assistants engaged under this notice.

Senior Scientific Assistant (DNA)

You will process forensic biology exhibits on your own, covering DNA extraction, quantitation, PCR and capillary electrophoresis, and draft preliminary reports for technical review. You may join crime scene work and will help with NABL / ISO 17025 quality documentation and proficiency tests.

Scientific Assistant (DNA)

You will examine crime exhibits and do first-stage lab processing under senior staff, keep the exhibit registers and stock records, and help run the division's sophisticated instruments.

Lab Attendant

You will wash and sterilise glassware, keep the lab clean and stocked, and move exhibits and case files safely between the division, police stations and courts. You will also help scientists handle chemicals and keep registers.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: One year from joining or until the need lasts, whichever is earlier; the contract ends on its own after that.
• Pay only: You get a fixed consolidated salary. No HRA, DA, TA, medical allowance, LTC, bonus, gratuity, pension or increment is paid.
• No regularisation: You must sign a notarised undertaking on Rs. 100 stamp paper that you will not claim regularisation or go to court for absorption.
• Shifts and posting: You may work shifts on a 24x7 basis, and you can be posted at Madhuban or any Regional Forensic Science Laboratory in Haryana.
• Leave: Only 8 casual leaves and 2 restricted holidays a year; no earned, medical or maternity leave.
• Exit terms: The lab can end the contract at any time without notice. If you resign, you must give one month's notice or pay one month's salary.
• Verification: Engagement depends on police verification of character and a medical fitness certificate from a Government Medical Officer.
• Confidentiality: Any leak of case records or DNA profiles, during or after the contract, means immediate termination.
• Serving employees: Government or PSU staff must apply through proper channel or bring an NOC to the interview.
• Joining: You must join within seven days of the engagement order, or the next person on the waiting list takes your place.
• Experience rule: Only post-qualification DNA casework backed by a certificate from the head of the lab counts; internships, dissertations and project work do not.

Send a separate application and document set for each post; one form for several posts is rejected, and email or fax applications are not accepted. The shortlist appears on the lab's notice board and haryanapolice.gov.in, with no call letters by post, and shortlisted candidates report at 9:30 AM on the interview day with original documents.
