GSSSB Additional Assistant Engineer Mechanical Recruitment 2026: Overview

Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB) is filling Additional Assistant Engineer (Mechanical), Class-3 posts in the Gujarat Maritime Board, which works under the state's Ports and Transport Department. This is direct recruitment through a single objective competitive exam (computer-based or OMR) under Advertisement No. 463/202627. Diploma holders in Mechanical Engineering can apply, and for this cycle the department has also accepted a Diploma in Automobile as equivalent. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fixed-pay period: You serve the first five years on a fixed monthly pay; regular appointment in the 7th Pay Commission pay scale follows only if your service is found satisfactory, and this remains subject to the Supreme Court's decision in SLP No. 14124/2012 and 14125/2012.
• Automobile diploma accepted: The Ports and Transport Department recognised a Diploma in Automobile as an equivalent qualification through its letter dated 8 September 2026.
• Language: You need adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
• Computer knowledge: You can apply without a basic computer certificate, but you must produce one before appointment or your selection will be cancelled.
• Reservation for Gujarat natives only: Reserved seats and category age relaxation are available only to original residents of Gujarat; a reserved-category candidate applying for an unreserved seat gets no relaxation.
• PwD seats in a separate advert: The disability-reserved seats of this cadre are filled under the special drive Advt. No. 464/202627, so none appear here. PwD candidates with the listed disabilities (D, HH, OA, OL, CP, Dw, AAV, BA, BL, SD, SI, SLD, MI, MD) can still apply against open seats.
• Women's reservation: Women's seats left unfilled go to men of the same category, and the remaining seats are open to both men and women on merit.
• Bonus marks: Widows who have not remarried, and candidates who have represented at national/international, inter-university or All India School Federation level in recognised sports, get 5% of their exam marks added for merit.
• Training: After appointment you must complete government training and pass the training exam.
• Cut-off date: Your qualification, age and category certificates are judged as on the last date of application.

Application Submission Notes

You apply only on OJAS (ojas.gujarat.gov.in), and you need a One Time Registration (OTR) there before the form opens for you. If you submit more than once, only your last confirmed application counts, and a confirmed form cannot be edited.

• Fee: Pay online (debit card, net banking, UPI or wallet) after you get your confirmation number; the fee link stays open a few days past the application deadline, and the fee is refunded to candidates who sit the exam.
• Bank details: Enter your bank account and upload the first page of your passbook — the refund is sent to this account and cannot be changed offline later.
• Photo and signature: JPG files up to 15 KB; the photo must carry the date it was taken, no older than one year before the last date.
