Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is hiring a Post-Doctoral Researcher in its Materials Engineering department through the institute's Research and Development Office. You will work with Prof. Amit Arora on the project “Modeling and Simulation of Solid Stir Extrusion (SSE) Process”. The aim is a physics-based numerical model that can predict how the material flows, how its temperature changes, how it deforms and what grain structure it ends up with. This post suits a PhD holder who enjoys numerical modelling, CFD and writing simulation code.

The project leans heavily on coding and computational fluid dynamics. You are expected to build the model in FORTRAN and use CFD fundamentals to do it, so hands-on work with tools such as ANSYS, OpenFOAM or COMSOL and a grip on friction stir based processes, deformation and recrystallisation will help your application stand out.
