The Gauhati High Court, which has jurisdiction over Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh, has released Advertisement No.HC.XXXVII-01/2026 dated 19 May 2026 to fill 6 Judicial Assistant posts at the Kohima Bench. All 6 posts are reserved for indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland, with separate reservation for the Konyak and Phom tribes. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must be a graduate from a recognised university.
• Computer Skills: You must have a working knowledge of computer.
• Domicile: You must be an indigenous inhabitant of Nagaland. Candidates from other states are not eligible.
• Marital Status: If you have entered into a marriage with a person who already has a living spouse, or have done so while having a living spouse yourself, you are not eligible.

Age Limit

• You should be between 21 and 32 years as on the last date of application (11 June 2026).
• Age Relaxation:
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 5 years (upper age limit 37 years)
  • Government Employees - relaxation equal to years of service served, up to a maximum of 5 years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) - 10 years

Salary

• Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level 10 of the 7th CPC.
• Pay Scale: Rs. 37,800 - Rs. 1,19,700 per month.
• Grade Pay: Rs. 4,200.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per government rules.

Application Fee

• SC/ST (Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland): Rs. 250
• PwBD: No fee
• Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Selection Process

Selection happens in two stages:

1. Written Examination (100 marks): 2 hours, OMR-based objective type multiple choice questions. The paper covers English Proficiency, General Knowledge, General Aptitude, and Reasoning.
2. Interview / Viva Voce (20 marks): Candidates will be called in the ratio of 1:3 (3 candidates per post) based on written exam merit. You must score at least 12 out of 20 marks (60%) in the interview to qualify.

Final selection is based on the total of written exam + interview marks. If two candidates score the same total, the one with higher written exam marks wins. If still tied, the older candidate is given preference.

• Manage incoming and outgoing official communication of the bench
• Follow High Court rules of conduct and report to the senior officers
