Family Court, Ambedkar Nagar Counsellor Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

The Office of the Principal Judge, Family Court, Ambedkar Nagar has released an advertisement to fill 2 Counsellor posts. The court originally had 2 sanctioned counsellor posts under a Uttar Pradesh Government order dated 17 February 2020, and the tenures of the two counsellors working there ended on 3 March 2026 and 8 May 2026 respectively, creating the current vacancies. This engagement is on a contractual basis attached to the court and is not treated as government service. Candidates with family counselling experience get preference — this is a meaningful opportunity for social work and psychology graduates who want to work within the judicial system helping families resolve disputes.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification (Option 1): Graduate degree in Sociology or Psychology, along with experience in social work.
  • Qualification (Option 2 - Preferred): Postgraduate degree in Social Work with at least 2 years of experience in family counselling.
  • Prior Experience: If you have previously worked as a counsellor, you must specifically mention in your application how many years you served in that role.
  • Declaration Required: You must declare that you are not a litigant party in any case pending before the Family Court.

Age Limit

  • Your age on the date of application submission should be between 35 and 65 years.

Salary

  • You will get an honorarium of Rs. 1,000 per working day, or Rs. 24,000 per month, whichever is lower, as per government order.
  • This is a contractual role and is not treated as government service.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on your application, qualifications and experience:

  1. Application Screening: The Family Court office reviews all applications received with certificates and the non-litigant declaration.
  2. Forwarding to State Government: Screened applications are sent to the Uttar Pradesh Government (Nyaya Anubhag-2) for further action as per government rules.
  3. Appointment: Selected candidates are appointed on a contractual basis for an initial tenure of 3 years, extendable by another 3 years on the Allahabad High Court's recommendation.

Since the position is contractual, it will not be considered government service, and you will be attached to the court on a contract basis rather than as a state government employee.
