Airports Authority of India (AAI), a Schedule 'A' Miniratna Category-1 Public Sector Enterprise, manages civil aviation infrastructure across the country. Its Regional Headquarters for the North Eastern Region, based at Guwahati Airport, has released Advertisement No. 01/2026/APPRENTICE/GRADUATE/DIPLOMA/ITI/NER for a one-year Apprenticeship Training Programme under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for the year 2026-27. This drive covers Civil, Electrical, Electronics/IT/Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering streams for Graduate and Diploma apprentices, plus Fitter, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) and Electrician trades for ITI apprentices. This recruitment is open only to candidates domiciled in the North Eastern Region, and training will happen at various AAI airports across Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.

The number of posts is tentative and can be increased or decreased by AAI. Selected candidates will be posted at NER airport locations based on their registration location in the NATS/NAPS portal.

Who Can Apply?

For Graduate Apprentices (Stipend Rs. 15,000/month):

• Full-time (regular) 4-year Engineering degree in Civil, Electrical, Electronics/IT/Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering, recognized by AICTE.

For Diploma (Technical) Apprentices (Stipend Rs. 12,000/month):

• Full-time (regular) 3-year Diploma in Engineering in the same streams, recognized by AICTE.

For Trade (ITI) Apprentices (Stipend Rs. 9,600/month):

• ITI/NCVT certificate in Fitter, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) or Electrician trade from an AICTE-recognized institution.

Domicile: Only Indian nationals who are bonafide domiciles of the North Eastern Region (Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh) can apply.

Passing Year: You must have passed your Graduate/Diploma course in 2024 or later to be eligible.

You are not eligible if you have already completed an apprenticeship (in AAI or elsewhere) at the same qualification level, or if you have 1 year or more of work experience after completing your qualification. You can apply for only one discipline — applying for more than one will get your application rejected.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 26 years old as on 28 July 2026.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates get relaxation in the upper age limit as per Government of India guidelines.

Salary

• Graduate Apprentices: Rs. 15,000 per month (Rs. 8,850 from AAI + Rs. 6,150 Government DBT share).
• Diploma (Technical) Apprentices: Rs. 12,000 per month (Rs. 6,550 from AAI + Rs. 5,450 Government DBT share).
• Trade (ITI) Apprentices: Rs. 9,600 per month (AAI share only).
• No TA/DA (travel or daily allowance) will be provided during the apprenticeship.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on merit and interview, in these steps:

1. Provisional Selection: Based on the percentage of marks scored in your qualifying examination (Graduate/Diploma/ITI).
2. Shortlisting: Shortlisted candidates are contacted only through their registered email ID for interview/document verification.
3. Interview & Document Verification: Final selection is based on your interview performance and verification of original certificates.
4. Medical Fitness: You must submit a Medical Fitness Certificate (from a Government Medical Officer only) at the time of joining.
