- Domicile: You need a valid Employment Exchange registration number for the state of Assam.
For Multi Tasking Staff:
- Qualification: You must have passed Class 8. Candidates who have already passed Class 12 (HSSLC) or above are not eligible for this post.

- Maximum age limit is 40 years for Unreserved (UR), 43 years for OBC/MOBC, 45 years for SC/ST, and 50 years for PwBD candidates.
- PwBD Age Relaxation (Chauffeur): Candidates with Dwarfism, Leprosy Cured or Acid Attack Victim status can claim the age relaxation and fee concession.
- PwBD Age Relaxation (MTS): Candidates with Low Vision, Hard of Hearing, Dwarfism, Leprosy Cured or Acid Attack Victim status can claim the age relaxation and fee concession.

- Multi Tasking Staff: Pay Band-1, Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 52,000 per month plus Grade Pay of Rs. 3,900.

Selection Process
For Chauffeur (Driver):
- Screening Test (50 marks): An OMR-based objective exam of 1 hour covering Road Sign Recognition (20 marks), General Knowledge (20 marks) and Assamese language proficiency (10 marks, qualifying only — you need at least 5 out of 10 to clear this segment, though it does not count towards your merit rank).
- Driving Test (40 marks): Candidates 5 times the number of vacancies are called based on screening test merit. The test covers starting, driving, parking and after-driving segments (10 marks each). You need at least 20 out of 40 marks to qualify.
- Interview/Viva Voce (20 marks): Candidates 3 times the number of vacancies are called based on driving test merit, along with document verification. You need at least 12 out of 20 marks to qualify.
For Multi Tasking Staff:
- Written Exam (70 marks): An OMR-based objective exam of 1.5 hours covering General Knowledge/Current Affairs, General English, General Mathematics (Class 8 standard), and Assamese language (20 marks, qualifying only — you need at least 8 out of 20 to clear this segment, which is set at Middle School Standard).
- Interview/Viva Voce (20 marks): Candidates 5 times the number of vacancies are called based on written exam merit. You need at least 12 out of 20 marks to qualify.
Final selection for both posts is based on the total marks scored across all qualifying stages. In case of a tie, the candidate with more marks in the driving test (Chauffeur) or written exam (MTS) gets preference, followed by seniority in age. The Gauhati High Court reserves the right to fix or alter the cut-off marks at any stage of the selection process.
