Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is recruiting 1 Research Assistant and 1 Data Entry Operator for the DIAMOnDS Molecular Pathology Laboratory in the Department of Surgical Oncology. BHU Research Assistant and DEO Recruitment 2026

The Department of Surgical Oncology at the Institute of Medical Sciences has issued Advertisement No. 5: SO/DIAMOnDS/BHU, dated 18 August 2026. These positions support the Advanced Molecular Oncology Diagnostic Services Molecular Pathology Laboratory, a Department of Health Research and ICMR centre funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

There are 2 separate contractual posts under the same advertisement. Each appointment begins for one year and may be renewed if the candidate performs satisfactorily and the project continues. The roles are temporary and co-terminus with the project. Selection does not create a right to a regular post under BHU, ICMR, DHR or the Government of India.

Who Can Apply?

Research Assistant

• Qualification route 1: First-class master's degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or Bioinformatics from a recognized university
• Qualification route 2: B.Sc. MLT with M.Sc. MLT in Pathology, Microbiology or Biochemistry
• Desirable laboratory exposure: IHC, IFC, nucleic-acid isolation, RT-PCR, FISH, ELISA, NGS library preparation or related molecular pathology techniques
• Computer and research skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, statistical tools, data collection, analysis, handling and report writing
• Communication: Strong written, oral and laboratory skills

Data Entry Operator

• Essential qualification: Graduate degree from a recognized university
• Computer speed: At least 15,000 key depressions per hour through a computer speed test
• Typing and data entry: Good knowledge of English and Hindi typing and data entry
• Desirable experience: 1 year of EDP work in a government, autonomous, PSU or other recognized organization
• Desirable tools: Computer applications, business-intelligence tools, data management, GeM, Samarth or ERP

The Research Assistant laboratory capabilities and the Data Entry Operator's one-year EDP background are listed as desirable. The essential degree and the DEO computer speed condition remain the main eligibility gates. Give accurate details of education, experience, publications and presentations in your CV.

Age Limit

• Research Assistant: Upper age limit of 40 years
• Data Entry Operator: 20 to 30 years
• Relaxation: 5 years for SC, ST, OBC non-creamy-layer, EWS and physically handicapped candidates, as stated in the notice

The amounts are consolidated monthly pay. The advertisement specifically says regular benefits such as PF, CCA, LTC and medical claims are not admissible. No TA or DA will be paid for the interview, joining or termination of service.

Selection Process

BHU will shortlist eligible applicants and may use a written examination, skill test, personal discussion or interview.
