Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has released notification (Advt. No. 03/2026) for 53 Junior Engineer (Electrical) posts under the Public Works (Building & NH) Department of Assam Government. 18 of the 53 posts are reserved for women (RFW), and 3 posts are reserved for PwBD candidates. Diploma holders in Electrical Engineering with Assam domicile can apply through the APSC Online Recruitment Portal.

Who Can Apply?

Citizenship & Domicile

• You must be an Indian Citizen as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India
• You must be a permanent resident of Assam (PRC issued in Assam for educational purpose, or Employment Exchange Registration Certificate is accepted as proof)

Educational Qualification

• 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering from an institute recognised by AICTE
• The Diploma course must be a regular course — Distance mode diplomas will not be accepted
• You must upload all semester/year mark sheets and the final pass certificate

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 40 years as on 01 January 2026
• Age Relaxation:
• SC/ST candidates: 5 years (up to 45 years)
• OBC/MOBC candidates: 3 years (up to 43 years)
• Ex-Servicemen (UR): up to 42 years; with further 3 years for OBC/MOBC and 5 years for SC/ST
• PwBD candidates: 10 years (irrespective of category)
• Age proof: Class X / Class XII Admit Card / Pass Certificate / Marksheet issued by a recognised Central/State Board only

Salary

• Pay Band: Pay Band-2 (Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 70,000 per month)
• Grade Pay: Rs. 8,700
• Plus DA, HRA and other allowances as per Assam State Government rules

• General: Rs. 250 + Rs. 47.20 processing fee = Rs. 297.20
• OBC/MOBC: Rs. 150 + Rs. 47.20 processing fee = Rs. 197.20
• SC / ST / BPL / PwBD: NIL + Rs. 47.20 processing fee = Rs. 47.20

Selection Process

Selection is through the following stages (procedure to be notified later by corrigendum):

1. Screening / Written Examination: APSC will decide the exam pattern based on the number of applications received
2. Personal Interview / Viva-Voce: Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview at a place fixed by APSC
3. Document Verification: Original certificates verified at the time of interview
4. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must be in sound bodily health and undergo medical examination as required by Government

The exam may be conducted zone-wise (Silchar, Jorhat, Nagaon, Tezpur, Kokrajhar, Guwahati) depending on the number of candidates.

2. Click Register Here and complete the One Time Registration (OTR) with valid email and mobile number
3. Login and update the OTR profile with all required certificates (age, caste, qualification)
4. Click on Advt. No. 03/2026 and fill in the online application form
5. Upload recent Photograph (50-200 KB) and Signature (50-200 KB) in the prescribed format
6. Preview the application, click Proceed to Pay and pay the fee online
7. Submit the form before 10 June 2026; pay the fee on or before 12 June 2026
8. Take a printout of the submitted form for future reference

• Supervise and execute electrical works in PWD building and national highway projects in Assam
• Prepare estimates, technical drawings, and bill of quantities for electrical installations
• Inspect ongoing site work and check quality of materials and workmanship
• Maintain measurement books and prepare contractor bills as per CPWD/PWD norms
• Coordinate with junior staff, contractors, and senior engineers on project schedules
• Follow safety norms and electrical code provisions on all sites
• Prepare progress reports and assist in tender and procurement processes
• Carry out routine maintenance of electrical systems in PWD buildings
