Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) Assistant Director Fisheries Recruitment 2026 - 14 Posts

The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has released Advertisement No. 11/2026, dated 6 July 2026, inviting applications for 14 Assistant Director Fisheries posts. This is a Group B Gazetted post where you will head a district fisheries office as the drawing and disbursing officer, and handle fisheries development, extension work and scheme implementation for the district. Out of the 14 posts, 5 are unreserved, 4 are for OBC, 3 for ST, 1 for SC and 1 for EWS candidates, with further seats set aside for women and for a candidate with hearing disability within these categories. Because an OBC reservation case is pending in court, the commission will select 87% of posts in each category now and keep the remaining 13% provisional until the court gives its final order.

Who Can Apply?

Option 1 - Educational Qualification:

  • You need a Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Zoology with Fisheries as a subject, or an equivalent postgraduate degree in Fisheries Science from a recognized university.
  • Along with this, you need a one-year Inland Fisheries training from an ICAR-recognized institute, or from the Fisheries Training Institute, Naugaon, Chhatarpur (Assistant Fisheries Officer level course).

Option 2 - Experience Route:

  • You can also apply with 5 years of continuous work experience in inland fisheries development or research, working as an Assistant Fisheries Officer, Research Assistant, or an equivalent post in a government or semi-government fisheries organisation, or in ICAR.

You must already hold your qualification and experience by the last date of application, 16 August 2026. The reserved posts (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD) are only open to Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates — candidates from other states or categories can apply only against the unreserved posts. If you are a Madhya Pradesh resident, you don't need a live employment registration at the time of application, but you must produce it (or a No Objection Certificate/service certificate if you're already employed) before your interview.

Age Limit

  • You should have completed 21 years but should not have completed 40 years of age, calculated as on 1 January 2027.
  • Your date of birth must match the one recorded in your 10th (High School) marksheet.
  • Age Relaxation: SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, women and government employees who are Madhya Pradesh domicile holders get a 5-year relaxation. Ex-servicemen get relaxation equal to their defense service period.
  • Even after adding every relaxation, your age cannot exceed 45 years in any category.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a salary in the pay scale of Rs. 15,600 - 39,100 with Grade Pay Rs. 5,400 per month.
  • You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Madhya Pradesh government rules.

Selection Process

MPPSC selects Assistant Director Fisheries mainly through an interview, and adds a written exam only if there is heavy competition:

  1. Document Screening: The commission checks your qualifications, experience and other documents after you apply.
  2. Interview (if 500 or fewer candidates apply): You will be shortlisted for interview based on merit in your qualifying degree marks. The number of candidates called depends on vacancies — for example, up to 12 candidates for a single post, up to 36 for 4-6 posts, and up to 50 candidates (or 5 times the vacancies) for 10 or more posts. The interview carries 100 marks, and you need at least 41 marks (unreserved) or 31 marks (reserved/PwBD categories) to qualify.
  3. Written Exam (only if more than 500 candidates apply): In that case, MPPSC will hold a written exam first. Candidates scoring in the top 3 times the number of vacancies per category are then called for interview, and your final merit combines written exam and interview marks.
  4. Document Verification: You must submit your original documents at the MPPSC office in Indore before the deadline for your candidature to be confirmed.

There is no minimum qualifying mark set for the interview when a written exam is also held.
