CGPSC Psychiatrist Backlog Recruitment 2026

Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) is hiring 6 Psychiatrists on a backlog basis for the state's Public Health and Family Welfare Department. CGPSC has released Advertisement No. 04/2026 (dated 17 July 2026) to fill 6 backlog posts of Psychiatrist under the Chhattisgarh Public Health and Family Welfare Department. All 6 posts are reserved — 1 for Scheduled Caste (SC), 3 for Scheduled Tribe (ST), and 2 for Other Backward Class (OBC, non-creamy layer) candidates of Chhattisgarh; general category candidates are not eligible for this particular drive. This is a great opportunity for reserved-category doctors with a psychiatry specialization to join Chhattisgarh's government hospitals in a senior, well-paying medical post. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: A postgraduate degree or diploma in Psychiatry (such as MD/DNB Psychiatry) from a recognized university, and it must be recognized by the National Medical Commission.
• Registration: You must have valid and active registration with the National Medical Commission (formerly Medical Council of India) or any State Medical Council.
• Reservation: This is a backlog recruitment restricted to SC, ST and OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates of Chhattisgarh only.
• Probation: Selected candidates will serve a 3-year probation period before confirmation.
• Education Recognition: Your postgraduate degree and postgraduate diploma must both be from a university recognized by the Indian Medical Council, so check this carefully before applying.
• Note: You do not need to attach any certificates with your online application, but you must hold proof of your qualification, experience and other eligibility as on the last date of applying.

Age Limit

• You should be between 25 and 35 years old as on 01 January 2026.
• Age Relaxation: Chhattisgarh local residents get 5 extra years (maximum age becomes 40 years). SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates get a further 5-year relaxation in the upper age limit. Local women of Chhattisgarh get a 10-year relaxation. Additional relaxations apply for government/contractual employees, ex-servicemen, retrenched government employees, and certain state award winners, as per Chhattisgarh government rules.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 67,300 to Rs. 2,13,100 per month under Level-13 of the Chhattisgarh State Pay Matrix.
• You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA) and other allowances as revised from time to time by the Chhattisgarh government.

Application Fee

• Chhattisgarh local SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates: Rs. 300
• General/EWS category and all candidates from outside Chhattisgarh: Rs. 400
• All candidates must additionally pay a portal fee plus GST on top of the exam fee.
• Fees can be paid online only — bank drafts and cheques are not accepted.

Selection Process

CGPSC will follow these steps to select candidates:

1. Screening of Applications: CGPSC checks your eligibility based on the details in your online application.
2. Interview: Depending on the number of applications received, the Commission may call qualifying candidates directly for an interview worth 100 marks. You need at least 33 marks (General/OBC) or 23 marks (SC/ST) to qualify.
3. Written Exam (if required): If the number of applications is too high for direct interviews, CGPSC may conduct a written exam or Computer Based Test (CBT) before shortlisting candidates for interview.
4. Document Verification: You must produce original certificates for your qualification, experience, age and category before or at the time of the interview.

Note: There is no provision for re-checking or re-evaluation of your exam or interview result.

Since the vacancies are limited and reserved for specific categories, competition among eligible SC/ST/OBC psychiatrists is expected to be intense, so make sure your registration and category documents are fully in order before the interview.

You can correct errors in your submitted form free of cost from 20 to 22 August 2026, and paid corrections (Rs. 500 fee) are allowed from 23 to 25 August 2026. During the paid correction window, you can only change your gender, date of birth, category, domicile or ex-servicemen/PwD details.
