Selection Process

If you clear the prelims cut-off, you move to the Mains Exam, which is descriptive and tests your deeper knowledge of law and general subjects across seven papers. Candidates who clear mains will be called for a personal interview. Note: There is negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer in the preliminary exam.

Preparation Tips for BPSC Prosecution Officer Exam

  1. Master the new criminal laws — Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) are core subjects
  2. Revise Constitutional Law thoroughly — questions on fundamental rights, directive principles, and constitutional amendments are expected
  3. Cover Bihar-specific current affairs — the General Studies paper includes national and Bihar-specific topics from the last 6-12 months
  4. Practice previous BPSC question papers — they are available on the official website and give you a clear idea of the difficulty level
  5. Time yourself strictly — you get 2 hours per paper with 100 questions each, so speed and accuracy both matter
  6. Attempt mock tests regularly — take at least 5-10 full-length practice tests before the exam to build confidence
