Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released Advertisement No. 14/2026 dated 18 August 2026 for the fourth phase of School Teacher recruitment (TRE-4.0) under the Education Department, Government of Bihar. This is one of the largest teacher recruitment drives in Bihar, covering four levels — Primary (Class 1-5), Middle (Class 6-8), Secondary (Class 9-10) and Higher Secondary (Class 11-12) — across dozens of subjects. If you have the relevant teaching qualification and eligibility test result, you can apply online for any level you qualify for, and even for more than one level with separate applications and fees. During the application, you can select up to 38 districts as your posting preference; the Commission will publish district-wise and subject-wise merit lists once the results are declared.

Who Can Apply?
Primary Teacher - Class 1-5 (Rs. 25,000/month):
- 12th pass with 50% marks plus a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), or a Graduate degree with 4-year B.El.Ed / D.El.Ed (Special Education)
- You must have passed CTET Paper-I or BTET Paper-I
Middle School Teacher - Class 6-8 (Rs. 28,000/month):
- Graduate degree with 2-year D.El.Ed, or Graduate/Postgraduate with 1-year B.Ed in the relevant subject group (Maths & Science, Social Science, or Language)
- You must have passed CTET Paper-II or BTET Paper-II
Secondary Teacher - Class 9-10 (Rs. 31,000/month):
- Graduate/Postgraduate with minimum 50% marks (or 45% with B.Ed) and a B.Ed degree in the relevant subject
- You must have passed STET Paper-I
Higher Secondary Teacher - Class 11-12 (Rs. 32,000/month):
- Postgraduate degree with minimum 50% marks and a B.Ed degree in the relevant subject (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Commerce, Computer Science and other subjects)
- You must have passed STET Paper-II
Teachers appointed before 10 August 2017 who cleared the Dakshata Pariksha are exempt from the CTET/BTET/STET requirement.
Age Limit
- Minimum age is 18 years (Primary & Middle level) or 21 years (Secondary & Higher Secondary level) as on 1 August 2026.
- Maximum age is 37 years for Unreserved male candidates, calculated as on 1 August 2024.
- Age Relaxation: Backward Class/EBC candidates and Unreserved women can apply up to 40 years; SC/ST candidates (male & female) and Transgender candidates can apply up to 42 years.
- Retirement age for this post is 60 years.
Salary
- Basic pay starts from Rs. 25,000 (Primary Teacher) and goes up to Rs. 32,000 (Higher Secondary Teacher), depending on the teaching level.
- You will also get Dearness Allowance and other allowances as per Bihar government rules.
Application Fee
- All Candidates: Rs. 100 exam fee per teaching level (pay separately if applying for more than one level)
- Biometric Fee: Rs. 200 extra if you do not enter your Aadhaar number in the application
- Bank/payment gateway charges apply in addition to the online fee
Selection Process
Selection is done in the following stages:
- Preliminary Examination: 150 objective MCQs on General Studies for 150 marks in 2 hours. 1/3 mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
- Main Examination: 150 objective MCQs (qualifying Language paper + General Studies + Subject paper) for 150 marks in 2 hours 30 minutes, with the same negative marking.
There is no interview — your final merit is based directly on your Main Examination score. Qualifying marks for the Preliminary Exam are 40% (Unreserved), 36.5% (Backward Class), 34% (EBC) and 32% (SC/ST/Women/Divyang). There is no provision for re-evaluation of your Main Examination answer sheet once the result is published.

- Teach assigned subjects to students following the Bihar School Examination Board / NCERT curriculum

- Attend parent-teacher meetings and school staff meetings
