About This Job

TMC Mumbai is hiring for 76 posts of Senior Resident, Junior Resident, 01 Year TMC Fellowship and 02 Years Certified HBNI Fellowship across various medical and surgical departments. If you have an MBBS, MD, MS, DNB, MCh, DM or DrNB degree, you can apply. These are tenured (non-permanent) positions commencing from 01 August 2026. The last date to apply online is 20 May 2026 by 5:30 PM. Stipends range from Rs. 1,11,132 to Rs. 1,45,530 per month.

Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), a Grant-in-Aid Institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has released notification TMC/ADVT-64/2026 for filling up 76 medical posts. The notification covers 24 Senior Resident specialties, 51 Fellowship streams and 1 Junior Resident post for Tata Memorial Hospital Parel (Mumbai), with some posts also available at TMC Vizag (Visakhapatnam). Selection is through MCQ test and/or VIVA — there is no separate written stage. Doctors with PG degrees in oncology, anaesthesia, pathology, radiology, surgery, medicine and allied specialties can apply.

Some posts are also available at Tata Memorial Hospital, Visakhapatnam (VIZAG). Selected candidates may also be posted at TMC centres in Sangrur, Mullanpur, Varanasi, Muzaffarpur or Guwahati as per requirement.

Who Can Apply?

Senior Resident (1 Year Tenure)

  • You need an MD/MS/DNB/MCh/DM/DrNB degree in the relevant specialty. The required PG degree differs by department — for example, MD (Anaesthesiology) for Anaesthesia, MCh/DrNB (Surgical Oncology) for Breast Oncology, MD (Pathology) for Pathology, and MD/DNB (Radio-diagnosis) for Radio-Diagnosis.

01 Year TMC Fellowship

  • You need a relevant MD/MS/DNB/MCh/DM degree. Several fellowships ask for 1 year of post-PG experience in oncology or the relevant specialty.

02 Year HBNI Certified Fellowship

  • Same as TMC Fellowship, but you complete a structured 2-year HBNI-certified programme. Most fellowships ask for 1 year experience after PG.

Junior Resident

  • MBBS with 6 months of clinical experience.

Other Requirements

  • All UG, PG and Super-Specialty degrees must be recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
  • Candidates selected at TMH Mumbai must register with the Maharashtra Medical Council.
  • Senior Resident and 2-year HBNI Fellowship at TMC are part of the PG Bond for candidates who completed MCh/DM/DNB/MS/MD from Government/Municipal Medical Colleges in Maharashtra.
  • If you are currently employed in a government/related organisation, you must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 40 years
  • Age and experience will be reckoned as on 31 July 2026
  • Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for Physically Handicapped candidates

  • Junior Resident (MBBS): Rs. 1,11,132 per month (Gross Pay)
  • Senior Resident / 01 Year TMC Fellowship (MS/MD/DNB): Rs. 1,33,623 per month (Gross Pay)
  • Senior Resident / 01 Year TMC Fellowship (MCh/DM/DrNB): Rs. 1,45,530 per month (Gross Pay)
  • HBNI Fellowship (Ph.D.): Rs. 59,690 (1st year), Rs. 62,230 (2nd year)
  • HBNI Fellowship (MS/MD/DNB): Rs. 1,33,623 (1st year), Rs. 1,36,269 (2nd year)
  • HBNI Fellowship (MCh/DM/DrNB): Rs. 1,45,530 per month (1st & 2nd year)

Note: A Security/Caution Deposit of Rs. 1,33,620 (SR & 1-Year Fellow) or Rs. 1,11,130 (JR) is required at the time of joining or in 5 equal monthly instalments. HBNI Fellows pay tuition and other fees as per HBNI rules.

Selection Process

  1. MCQ Test: Conducted only if the number of applicants exceeds 3 times the number of posts in that department. The Director (Academics), TMC will decide which posts will have an MCQ exam.
  2. VIVA (Interview): Shortlisted candidates appear for a personal interview based on MCQ performance or directly if applicant count is low.
  3. Document Verification: Originals including NOC must be produced at the time of MCQ/VIVA.

No TA/DA is paid for appearing at the MCQ or VIVA. Names of shortlisted candidates will be uploaded on the TMC website under Examination/Interview section.

  3. Register and fill in the online application form completely.
  4. Upload documentary evidence — date of birth, qualifications, experience, caste/disability certificate and NOC (if applicable).
  5. Pay the application fee of Rs. 1,000 online by Debit/Credit Card or UPI.
  6. Submit the form before 20 May 2026 at 5:30 PM (IST).

A separate online application must be submitted for each post. While applying, you must select your preferred centre/location. Hard copies are NOT required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care to oncology patients in the assigned department
  • Handle OPD, ward rounds and inpatient management under faculty supervision
  • Assist in surgeries, procedures and emergency duties as per the specialty
  • Participate in tumour board meetings and multidisciplinary case discussions
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation
  • Take part in teaching and training of junior colleagues and students
  • Conduct research, present case studies and contribute to academic publications
  • Attend academic sessions, journal clubs and continuing medical education programmes

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

MBBS / MD / MS / DNB / MCh / DM / DrNB in relevant specialty (varies by post)

Preferred Qualification

Post-PG experience in oncology or the relevant specialty (as required for specific fellowships)

Required Skills

Clinical skills in the chosen specialty, ability to work in a tertiary cancer care setting, academic and research aptitude

Age Limit

18 - 40 years (as on 31 Jul 2026)

Exam Pattern

Selection is through an MCQ Test followed by a VIVA (Interview). The MCQ test is conducted only when the number of applicants for a post exceeds 3 times the number of vacancies. For posts with fewer applicants, candidates may be called directly for the VIVA.
