IIPS Research Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), a deemed university in Mumbai, is hiring a Research Officer for its project "Demographic and Social Perspective of Suicide Deaths in India". The study pulls together district-level data from government sources and surveys to understand suicide deaths across the country, so the role suits you if you enjoy data work, coding and research writing.

This is a Mumbai-based, ad-hoc project post. You will support the principal investigator and the co-coordinators on everything from building datasets to drafting journal articles. Candidates with a statistics, data science, computer science, mathematics or engineering background at the undergraduate level are the intended fit.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The post is purely temporary for three months, and it is likely to be extended for the life of the project.
• Pay type: The monthly pay is consolidated, so no separate allowances are listed.
• Relaxation of qualifications: The selection committee may relax the essential qualifications for a candidate it finds exceptionally suitable; the panel's decision is final.
• Shortlisting: Only shortlisted candidates are informed and called for a virtual or in-person interview, which may be held at a later date.
