NIT Jalandhar Registrar Recruitment 2026: Overview

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (NIT Jalandhar), an Institute of National Importance on the G.T. Road bypass in Jalandhar, Punjab, is looking for its next Registrar under Advertisement No. 53/2026. The Registrar is the institute's senior-most administrative officer, and this Group A post is filled on deputation, including short-term contract, under the recruitment rules framed by the NITSER Council for all NITs.

The opening is meant for officers who already hold an analogous post in central or state government, a UT, a PSU, a university or a research institute, and for senior academics and administrators with long service at the right pay level. The single post is unreserved, and NIT Jalandhar says it wants an all-India workforce, so candidates from every state are welcome.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: Five years on deputation or short-term contract, or until you turn 62, whichever comes first — or as the Government of India fixes by order from time to time.
  • Deputation benefits: If you come on deputation, your benefits follow Government of India norms, and pay protection is allowed as per the current GoI guidelines.
  • Experience routes: You qualify through any one of four routes — an analogous post held on a regular basis, long service as Assistant or Associate Professor with educational administration, comparable experience in a research establishment or higher-education institution, or long administrative service including years as Deputy Registrar or equivalent.
  • Cut-off date: Qualifications, experience and age are all judged as on the closing date of the online form.
  • No Objection Certificate: If you work in a government, semi-government, PSU, university or educational institution, you must bring an NOC from your competent authority at the interview.
  • Higher shortlisting bar: Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee a call — the institute can set a shortlisting standard above the advertised minimum, and only the top 10 in the written test reach the interview.
  • Date of birth is final: The date of birth you enter in the online form cannot be changed later.
  • Website-only updates: Shortlists and the written test and interview schedule appear only on www.nitj.ac.in; no letters are sent by post, and canvassing in any form leads to disqualification.
  • Jurisdiction: Any dispute about the recruitment falls under the courts and tribunals at Jalandhar.

Application Submission Notes

The process is fully online — NIT Jalandhar activates the application link on its own website from the opening date, on the same recruitment page that carries the Hindi and English adverts. You do not post a hard copy of the form or any documents to the institute.

The non-refundable fee is paid online by debit card, credit card or net banking while you fill the form. Check every entry and upload before you submit, because applications without the relevant enclosures can be rejected without further correspondence.
