TMC Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), Mumbai — a grant-in-aid institution of the Department of Atomic Energy — is hiring Senior Residents in Radiation Oncology for its two Varanasi hospitals: Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital (HBCH) and Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre (MPMMCC) on the BHU campus. The drive runs under advertisement VAR/ACA/35/2026 and is open to Indian nationals only.

These are tenure-based residency posts, not permanent jobs. You join for a fixed term of one year, which the centre may extend. It is a strong option if you have just finished your MD or DNB in Radiation Oncology and want hands-on cancer care experience at a dedicated DAE cancer hospital. Doctors who already have oncology experience get preference.

Your designation depends on your experience after the postgraduate degree: fresh postgraduates join as Senior Resident I, while those with one or two years of experience are placed as Senior Resident II or III, with pay rising at each level.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• First come, first served: The posts are filled in the order suitable candidates turn up. Before you travel, email the centre to confirm that a post is still open.
• Join immediately: If you are selected, you must join right away, and your appointment depends on being found medically fit.
• Recognised degree: Your MD, DNB or equivalent postgraduate degree must be recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
• Cut-off for age and experience: Both are counted on the day you attend the walk-in interview, not on the advertisement date.
• Current employees: If you already work somewhere, bring a No Objection Certificate from your present employer.
• Legal jurisdiction: Any dispute will be handled only by courts in Varanasi.

The walk-in interview runs on all official working days from 16 September to 30 September 2026, between 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM, at the Office of the Dean (Academics), 5th Floor, DNT Block, MPMMCC, Sunder Bagiya, BHU Campus, Varanasi – 221005. Carry your original documents when you go.

Outstation candidates can take the interview online. For that, email your resume and supporting documents as a single PDF file to the same address, again with the advertisement number and post in the subject line. Since the posts go on a first-come basis, applying early in the window gives you the best chance.

• Plan and deliver radiotherapy treatment for cancer patients under senior consultants
• Examine patients in the outpatient clinic and on the wards
• Contour target areas and review treatment plans with the physics team
• Monitor patients during treatment and manage side effects

• Take part in tumour boards, teaching sessions and departmental research
• Handle emergency and on-call duties as per the department roster
