About This Job

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has released a notification for 1 Social Worker post at the Special Cell for Women and Children in Dhule district, Maharashtra. TISS Social Worker Recruitment 2026 - Special Cell Dhule

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), a Deemed University under the Ministry of Education, has announced 1 Social Worker vacancy for the Special Cell for Women and Children at Dhule district. This programme is run jointly by the Departments of Home, Police, and Women & Child Development, Government of Maharashtra. TISS implements 14 out of 132 Special Cells across Maharashtra districts. The Special Cell places trained social workers inside police stations to help women survivors of violence get emotional, social, and legal support. Maharashtra-based candidates with experience in the social development sector will get preference.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must have a post-graduate degree in Social Work (M.A. in Social Work or MSW) from a Central, Deemed, or State-recognised university.
  • Experience: Prior experience in direct casework or intervention work on women's issues at the grassroot level is preferred.
  • Knowledge: You should have knowledge of gender issues and violence against women, along with awareness of interventions in the district and state.
  • Language: Verbal and written fluency in Marathi and local languages/dialects is essential. Working knowledge of English and Hindi is also needed.
  • Computer Skills: Comfort with computers and internet is desirable.
  • Travel: You must be willing to travel within Maharashtra as required by the programme.
  • Domicile: You will need to reside in or around Dhule district during your appointment.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 22 and 55 years old.

Salary

  • Selected candidate will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 12,000 per month.
  • The salary is transferred directly by the Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD).
  • This is a contractual position. The appointment runs from the date of joining to 31st March of that financial year, and can be extended based on availability of funds and your performance.

Selection Process

Selection preferences mentioned in the notification:

  1. Maharashtra-based candidates with the required educational qualification and prior experience in the social-development sector will be given preference.
  2. Each Special Cell requires 2 social workers, with at least one woman and one man. Your gender may be a factor based on the current team composition.
  3. Document Verification: Only candidates with the required qualifications and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Handle individual and group interventions to support women and children survivors of violence, including social casework, counselling, referrals, and litigation support
  • Work with police station staff, NGOs, and government departments to coordinate a multi-agency response for survivors
  • Plan and conduct awareness programmes about the Special Cell for Women across Dhule district
  • Assist survivors with empowerment and behavioural change facilitation processes
  • Prepare reports, compile data, and maintain programme records and official documentation
  • Advocate on issues of violence against women and girls with relevant NGOs and government bodies
  • Travel across Dhule district and occasionally across Maharashtra for training, fieldwork, campaigns, and meetings

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Post-Graduate in Social Work (M.A. in Social Work / MSW) from a recognised university

Preferred Qualification

Prior direct casework/intervention experience on women's issues at grassroot level

Required Skills

Marathi fluency (verbal and written), knowledge of gender and violence against women issues, computer and internet skills
