Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai has released notification for 1 Male Social Work Fellow post under the Prayas field action project of the Centre for Criminology and Justice, School of Social Work. Prayas was started in 1990 and works towards socio-legal and economic rehabilitation of disadvantaged groups in the criminal justice system. This is a contract position for one year (extendable based on performance). If you hold an MSW degree and want to work in the field of criminal justice in Latur, this is a good opportunity for you.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Master in Social Work (MSW) degree from any recognized institute or university.
• Gender: Only male candidates can apply. The post is for working in a male prison where female staff are not allowed as per prison rules.
• Language: You must be fluent in spoken Hindi and English. Preference is given to candidates who can also speak Marathi.
• Experience: Preference for candidates with prior experience of social work practice in the field of criminal justice.
• Writing Skills: Good ability in written English (and preferably Marathi and Hindi).
• Computer Skills: Familiarity with MS-Office, emails, and the internet is required.
• Travel: You must be willing to travel in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad District, and outside districts and states when necessary.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: Below 35 years as on 31 March 2026.
• The institute reserves the right to relax age limit in exceptional cases.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 30,000 per month (including field work allowance).
• The contract is for one year, extendable based on satisfactory performance and project requirement.

Selection Process

There is no written exam for this post. Selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: Applications will be screened based on qualifications and experience. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview call.
2. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interaction at TISS, Mumbai. Online interviews will not be allowed.
3. Document Verification: You must bring original documents along with self-attested photocopies of educational certificates, work experience, and ID proof at the time of interview.

• Work with persons processed by the criminal justice system in Latur District prison
• Assist in socio-legal and economic rehabilitation of prisoners and their families
• Prepare case files, progress reports, and documentation in English and local languages
• Coordinate with prison authorities, legal aid services, and community organizations
• Follow up on cases of undertrial prisoners and support their legal needs
• Travel to courts, district offices, and community locations as required for field work
• Maintain records using MS-Office and report regularly to the Prayas project team at TISS
