TISS is a Deemed University and grant-in-aid institute under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Prayas, started in 1990, is a field action project of the Centre for Criminology and Justice, School of Social Work. It works towards the socio-legal and economic rehabilitation of disadvantaged groups processed by the Criminal Justice System. This recruitment is for a Male Legal Fellow to support legal aid activities at the Thane District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Centre.

Who Can Apply?

• Education: LLB Degree from a recognised university
• Sanad: Must hold a valid Sanad (licence) for practising law in Maharashtra
• Computer skills: Knowledge of MS Office, emails, and internet required
• Languages: Must be able to read, write, and speak in Marathi, English, and Hindi
• Preferred: Lawyers with 2-3 years of legal practice may get preference
• Team skills: Must be able to work both in teams and independently
• Gender: Only male candidates can apply for this post
• Exclusivity: During the contract, you cannot take up any other job without prior permission

Age Limit

• Maximum age: Below 35 years
• Age as on: 31 March 2026
• The institute may relax age in exceptional cases or for those already in analogous positions in government, research, or academic institutions

Salary

• Consolidated salary: Rs. 30,000/- per month
• This amount includes field work allowance
• Contract duration: Up to 1 year, extendable based on satisfactory performance and project requirement

Selection Process

3. Document Verification: Bring self-attested Xerox copies of educational certificates, work experience, and ID proof along with originals at the time of interview

Note: If you are currently employed, you must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

• Follow up on court proceedings and coordinate with legal authorities for rehabilitation of clients
