About This Job

Apply for the Project Research Scientist post at SGPGIMS. Postgraduate or PhD eligible. Salary: Rs 56,000. Last date: 14 Sep 2026.

SGPGIMS Research Scientist Hematology Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) is hiring a Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical) for an ICMR-funded study in its Hematology research setting. The project investigates how NOTUM, an antagonist in WNT signalling, may relate to the diagnosis and progression of colorectal cancer. This is a laboratory-led translational research role, connecting molecular and cell-based work with clinical samples.

Your work will support a project that compares evidence from cancer models, organoids and patient material. The notice places special value on hands-on familiarity with solid-cancer research, including mammalian cell culture and three-dimensional cancer organoids. It also expects careful clinical-sample handling, patient enrolment support and consistent ELISA work, so the role needs both bench discipline and sensitivity to clinical research procedures.

The study involves models using immunocompetent and immunocompromised mice, alongside laboratory analysis of patient samples. You should be comfortable maintaining reproducible records across these different streams and explaining results to the project team. The position offers direct exposure to an ICMR-funded colorectal-cancer investigation within a major medical-sciences institute, making it most relevant to researchers who already know cancer-biology workflows rather than those seeking a general entry-level laboratory post.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project tenure: The initial appointment runs until February 2027 and may continue with satisfactory performance for the remaining project period.
  • Co-terminus condition: The position ends when the research project ends, even if an extension had earlier been considered.
  • Shortlisting: Only shortlisted applicants will receive the exact interview schedule and venue by email.
  • Travel: SGPGIMS will not pay TA or DA for attending the interview.
  • Institute discretion: The Director may cancel the advertisement or the process without giving a reason.

Application Submission Notes

This recruitment uses an email application in one PDF file. Send the file to jalaj.gupta.irb@gmail.com; the cover letter should mention advertisement number R/18/2026-27. Combining everything into one readable PDF matters because the notice does not ask for separate attachments or an online form.

Your file should contain the updated CV, cover letter, photograph and self-attested supporting records specified in the notice. Use a clear subject line naming the Project Research Scientist post and keep the email account active for shortlist communication. The tentative interview timing can change, so rely on the confirmation sent by the project team rather than making travel plans from the provisional schedule alone.

Responsibilities

  • Run solid-cancer research experiments for the NOTUM and WNT signalling study
  • Culture mammalian cells and develop three-dimensional cancer organoids
  • Support cancer mouse-model work using suitable laboratory protocols
  • Handle clinical samples and assist with patient enrolment records
  • Perform standardised ELISA testing on patient samples
  • Keep accurate experiment logs and share findings with the project team
