About This Job

RITES Limited is hiring 1 Deputy General Manager (Mech.) - Bulk Material Handling Expert on a contract basis. If you have a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and at least 9 years of post-qualification experience in bulk material handling systems, this is a great opportunity with a Navratna Central PSU. RITES DGM (Mech.) Bulk Material Handling Expert Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Rail India Technical and Economic Service Limited (RITES Ltd.) has released a re-advertisement (CP/07-R1/26) for the post of Deputy General Manager (Mech.) - Bulk Material Handling Expert. RITES is a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, known for multi-disciplinary consultancy in transport, infrastructure, and related technologies. This is a contract appointment for 1 year, extendable subject to project requirements. Selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India as per company requirements.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • Full-time Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Technology in Mechanical / Production / Production & Industrial / Manufacturing / Mechanical / Railways / Mechatronics & Automobile, or any combinations in part or whole.
  • Degree must be recognised by AICTE, from a university incorporated by an Act of Central or State legislature in India, or other institutions established by Parliament or declared Deemed by UGC under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
  • Sections A & B examination of the Institution of Engineers (India) treated as equivalent to a degree by the Govt. of India is also acceptable.
  • UR/EWS candidates must have a first class degree (minimum 60% marks) for consideration against unreserved posts.
  • SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD candidates applying against reserved posts need a minimum 50% marks in the qualifying degree.

Post-Qualification Experience (Minimum 9 Years)

  • Designing and optimizing bulk material handling systems
  • Ability to develop process flow diagrams, capacity calculations, and optimization studies
  • Well-versed in material handling systems like conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, ship loaders/unloaders, silos, wagon tipplers, and rapid loading systems
  • Proven capability in project lifecycle management from feasibility to commissioning
  • Experience in cost estimation, budgeting, and lifecycle analysis of CAPEX and OPEX
  • Note: Training (except on-the-job), internship, teaching, academic, fellowship, or PhD research experience will NOT be counted as experience.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 50 years (as on the last date of application, i.e., 27.04.2026)
  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation
  • OBC-NCL: 3 years relaxation
  • PwBD: 10 years relaxation (in addition to SC/ST/OBC-NCL relaxation as applicable)
  • Age relaxation for Ex-Servicemen (Ex-SM) and J&K Domicile candidates as per government orders

Salary

  • Pay Scale (IDA): INR 70,000 – 2,00,000 per month
  • Approximate CTC: Rs. 19.85 LPA
  • Basic pay + DA + fixed/variable allowances @23% of Basic Pay
  • HRA/Lease as applicable
  • Contribution to PF and Gratuity as per Payment of Gratuity Act
  • Other benefits: Leaves, Maternity Leave, Medical facility, Accident/Death Insurance, Leave Encashment (as per company rules for contract employees)

Selection Process

Selection is based on 2 stages:

  1. Document Scrutiny/Verification: All candidates who submit a valid online application will be provisionally allowed to appear for document verification. Eligibility with respect to the post will be checked at this stage. RITES reserves the right to shortlist candidates for interview.
  2. Interview (100% weightage): Technical & Professional proficiency carries 65% weightage and Personality, Communication & Competency carries 35% weightage. A minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD against reserved posts) in the interview is required to be placed on the panel. The interview for this post is scheduled on 05 May 2026.
  3. Medical Examination: Final appointment is subject to medical fitness as per RITES Rules and Standards of Medical Fitness for the relevant post.

There is no written exam for this post — selection is entirely through interview and document verification.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize bulk material handling systems including conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, and ship loaders/unloaders
  • Prepare process flow diagrams, capacity calculations, and optimization studies for material handling projects
  • Manage project lifecycle from feasibility study through design, procurement, and commissioning
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets, and lifecycle analysis of CAPEX and OPEX
  • Handle technical and professional coordination with clients, contractors, and consultants
  • Monitor project progress and prepare detailed technical reports for management review
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards on material handling projects
