Nagar, has released the official notification on 24 April 2026 for filling up 170 vacancies in the Group-B post of Assistant District Attorney under the Department of Personnel, Government of Punjab. This is a Group-B Punjab Civil Service position, and selection happens through an online MCQ written exam followed by document verification at counselling.

Who Can Apply?
To apply for PSSSB Assistant District Attorney, you must meet these qualifications:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor of Law (LLB - Professional Degree) from a recognised university or institution. OR you should be a Barrister of England or Ireland, OR a member of the Faculty of Advocates of Scotland.
- Bar Experience: Minimum 2 years of practice experience at the Bar as on the last date of application.
- Advocates Act 1961: You must be eligible to be enrolled as an Advocate under the Advocates Act, 1961.
- Punjabi Language: You must have passed Matriculation (Class 10) with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject (or an equivalent Punjabi exam). This is required by Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994.
- Domicile: Reservation benefits are only for Punjab residents. You must upload a valid Punjab Domicile/Residence Certificate (issued within the last 5 years).
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age (General): 37 years
- SC/BC of Punjab: Up to 42 years
- State and Central Government employees: Up to 45 years
- Punjab PwD candidates: Up to 47 years (10 years relaxation)

Salary

Selection Process
- Online Written Exam (MCQ): Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions test conducted online. Negative marking of 1/4 mark (0.25) for each wrong answer. Each correct answer carries 1 mark.
- Merit List: The merit list is prepared based purely on the marks scored in the written exam. In case of tie, older candidates are placed higher; further ties are broken by educational marks, then matriculation marks.
- Counselling and Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification. You need to bring originals of all certificates including domicile, category, and matriculation Punjabi proof.
- Final Selection: Based on merit and successful document verification.

- If you are a new user, click Registration and fill in your details. Your User ID will be your registered Email ID; a password will be generated.
- Login with the User ID/Password and fill in the application form completely - personal details, educational details, and category code.
- Upload your passport-size photo and scanned signature.
- Click Attach Annexure and upload Class 10 certificate, educational certificates, and other required documents.

Responsibilities
- Represent the State of Punjab in district-level criminal courts and prosecute cases on behalf of the government
- Examine police case files, charge sheets, and evidence to prepare strong prosecution arguments
- Conduct trials, examine witnesses, and cross-examine defence witnesses in criminal proceedings
- Advise district police officers on legal aspects of investigation and case preparation
- File appeals, revisions, and applications in higher courts as required by the State
- Maintain case diaries, court registers, and submit periodic reports to senior prosecution officers
- Coordinate with the Director of Prosecution and District Attorney on important cases
- Stay updated on amendments to criminal laws, Supreme Court rulings, and Punjab Government legal directives
