PGIMER Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh is filling Senior Resident, Demonstrator and Senior Medical Officer posts across its departments for the January 2027 session. These are tenure posts, not permanent jobs — you can hold one for a maximum of three years.

The drive covers two campuses. Most posts are at the main institute in Chandigarh, and a separate group is at the PGI Satellite Centre in Sangrur, Punjab. Selection starts with a computer-based test (CBT) held in four cities, so you do not have to travel to Chandigarh for the first stage.

• Senior Residents (PGIMER, Chandigarh): the largest group, spread across different clinical and non-clinical departments of the main institute.
• Junior/Senior Demonstrators (PGIMER, Chandigarh): department-level teaching and lab posts, advertised in three groups — posts open at either the junior or senior level, senior-only posts and junior-only posts.
• Senior Medical Officer (PGIMER, Chandigarh): a single medical officer post at the main institute.
