ESIC Varanasi Faculty and Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), which works under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, is hiring Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Senior Residents and a Tutor for its Medical College and Hospital at Pandeypur, Varanasi. This is a one-year contract that can be stretched up to three years, and selection happens through a walk-in interview held over two days at the Dean's office. The drive covers 22 departments, from pre-clinical subjects like Anatomy to the ICU and Accident and Emergency, so most specialists will find a matching opening. Retired doctors and pensioners can also apply for the faculty posts.

Posts and Disciplines

• Pre-clinical and para-clinical faculty: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine and Community Medicine.
• Clinical faculty: General Medicine, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Anesthesiology, Radiology and Chest.
• Critical care: openings in the ICU and in Accident and Emergency; the A&E department needs Assistant Professors only.
• Senior Resident: spread across most departments, including Dental; two of the Senior Resident openings (Physiology and Pharmacology) are virtual vacancies.
• Statistician: one Assistant Professor-level opening listed on its own in the vacancy table.
• Tutor: one post, reserved for a Scheduled Tribe candidate.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• No private practice: once you join the teaching faculty, private practice in any form is not allowed.
• Notice period: either side can end the contract with one month's notice. If you resign on the spot, you must deposit one month's salary to ESIC through a challan.
• Absence rule: staying away for more than seven days without permission counts as abandoning the job and ends the contract automatically.
• Attendance: faculty mark attendance both manually and on the Aadhaar-based biometric system (AEBAS) every working day.
• No service benefits: the contract carries no PF, pension, gratuity, seniority or promotion.
• Pensioners: retired employees draw the full pay without any deduction and keep their pension and dearness relief during the contract.
• Reserved posts: an unfilled reserved post may be given to any candidate for 44 days at a time, and unreserved candidates can apply against EWS posts, where they are treated as UR.
• Medical registration: you need an updated NMC or State Medical Council registration; if it is pending, carry proof that you have applied, or your result may be held back.
• NOC: doctors in government, autonomous or statutory bodies should bring an NOC, or at least proof that they have applied for one.

On the day, report to the Office of the Dean, 2nd Floor, ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Pandeypur, Varanasi between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM with the original form, your original documents and the demand draft if a fee applies. Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Community Medicine, General Medicine, OBGY, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Pediatrics, ENT and Ophthalmology candidates come on the first day; Anesthesiology, Forensic Medicine, Psychiatry, Pharmacology, Radiology, Surgery, Chest and Tutor candidates come on the second day.
