UJVNL Director Recruitment 2026: Overview

Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (UJVN Limited), the state power corporation under the Department of Energy, Government of Uttarakhand, is selecting four functional Directors for its board — Project, Operation, Human Resource and Finance. The selection follows the new 2026 rules the state framed in line with the Corporate Governance Guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Power, which replace the 2021 rules for UJVNL's board posts. These are tenure-based board appointments, not regular cadre jobs, so they suit senior engineers, finance and HR leaders from power utilities, central PSUs or large private companies.

Posts and Disciplines

• Director (Project): for engineering graduates with long energy-sector careers who have held a General Manager or Chief Engineer level post.
• Director (Operation): for engineering graduates, preferably with an MBA; the rules give preference to people with power distribution and transmission operation and maintenance experience.
• Director (Human Resource): for graduates with a long run in HR or administration; a qualification in personnel management, HR or industrial relations, a regular MBA, a law degree or industrial engineering gets preference.
• Director (Finance): for Chartered Accountants or Cost and Management Accountants with senior finance and accounts experience.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Each appointment runs for three years or until you turn 62, whichever comes first. The state government can end it earlier with three months' notice.
• Performance review: Your work is judged against the Key Result Areas (KRAs) in the MoU between the state government and the corporation.
• Who can apply: Board-level and senior officers of Uttarakhand power corporations, central PSU executives in the senior pay scales the rules name, senior officers of power utilities in other states, and organised private-sector executives one level below the board.
• Private-sector checks: You give an affidavit that no criminal or civil case by SEBI, MCA, ED, DRI, CBI or any other agency is pending against you. Your company's turnover, audited balance sheets, market capitalisation and debt-to-equity ratio for the last three years are checked, along with employer certificates for the last 10 years.
• Vigilance clearance: Officers of state bodies are cleared by the Director, Vigilance; central PSU officers are cleared under the Central Vigilance Commission process.
• Disciplinary record: Your employer certifies any pending disciplinary case, a summary of your last five years' ACRs and any court case you are a party to.
• Selection panel: A scrutiny committee checks applications, and an interview board chaired by the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, with a head of an IIT/IIM and a Ministry of Power representative, makes the selection.
• Finance service officers: State Finance Service officers of at least Additional Secretary rank, aged within the advertised band, can also be posted as Director (Finance).
