About This Job
National Testing Agency (NTA) is hiring 1 Chief Technology Officer (CTO) on contract basis at its New Delhi Head Office. If you have a Master's Degree/Diploma in Technology or Management with 15+ years of IT experience including 5 years at CTO/CIO level, you can apply. National Testing Agency (NTA) Chief Technology Officer Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
The National Testing Agency (NTA), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has released a notification for engagement of one Chief Technology Officer on contract basis. NTA delivers JEE (Main), NEET, UGC-NET, CUET, CMAT, GPAT and other major national-level tests for crores of candidates. The contract is for 3 years, extendable based on performance. The CTO will lead a major technology transformation including AI-driven controls, cloud infrastructure, cyber-security and the entire digital examination ecosystem.

Essential Qualifications
- Master's Degree/Diploma in Technology or Management or equivalent qualification from a reputed institution
- Consistently good academic record
Experience Required
- Minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience in Information Technology
- At least 5 years at CTO / CIO / Head of Technology or equivalent senior leadership role in a large organisation
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, mission-critical, transaction-intensive digital platforms (preferably serving several lakhs to crores of users)
- Hands-on understanding of modern software architecture, cloud infrastructure, cyber-security, data engineering, AI/ML technologies and DevSecOps
Desirable Experience
- Experience in ed-tech, online assessment or computer-based testing (CBT) domain
- Experience working with Government of India, State Governments, PSUs or autonomous bodies (CFR, GeM, public procurement)
- Prior experience with NIC, C-DAC, STQC, CERT-In, MeitY or similar Government technology organisations
- Exposure to AI/ML applications - face recognition, biometric authentication, AI proctoring, fraud detection, impersonation prevention
- Hands-on experience with public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) with knowledge of cyber-security, project management and enterprise architecture

Salary
- You will get a consolidated monthly remuneration, commensurate with your qualifications, experience and industry benchmarks
- The remuneration package will be competitive and negotiable for exceptional candidates
- The exact amount will be decided by the competent authority
- Engagement is purely contractual - no right for regular appointment or absorption in NTA
Selection Process
The selection will be done in 2 stages:
- Shortlisting: Based on your qualifications, experience and suitability for the position. NTA reserves the right to fix criteria and limit the number of candidates called for interview.
- Personal Interview with Vision Presentation: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a personal interview before a Selection Committee, with the option of a presentation on technology vision for NTA.
The decision of the Selection Committee will be final and binding.

Responsibilities
- Define and execute NTA's technology vision, architecture and multi-year roadmap aligned with Digital India and NEP priorities
- Own the end-to-end technology stack covering candidate registration, question paper management, CBT delivery, result processing
- Design and deploy AI-driven controls for biometric authentication, face matching, AI proctoring and impersonation prevention
- Lead cyber-security strategy including threat modelling, penetration testing, SOC operations and CERT-In compliance
- Manage relationships with NIC, C-DAC, MeitY, CERT-In, STQC and empanelled technology vendors
- Build and mentor a high-performing in-house technology team across software engineering, infrastructure, cyber-security and AI/ML
- Plan and manage technology budget (CAPEX and OPEX) with transparent procurement per GFR and GeM guidelines
- Ensure compliance with Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and privacy-by-design across candidate data handling

Minimum Qualification
Master's Degree/Diploma in Technology or Management or equivalent from a reputed institution
Preferred Qualification
Ed-tech, online assessment or CBT domain experience; prior work with NIC, C-DAC, STQC, CERT-In, MeitY; AI/ML applications in proctoring and biometrics; public cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure)
