CoPA Marine Engineering Superintendent Recruitment 2026: Overview

Cochin Port Authority (CoPA), a Major Port under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, is filling one post of Marine Engineering Superintendent at its Willingdon Island office in Kochi. The post falls vacant on 1 April 2027, and the port is filling it in advance by absorption through the composite method.

This is not an open market recruitment. The circular has gone to all Major Port Authorities, and it is meant for serving marine engineering officers who already hold an analogous post or work as Chief Engineer Marine (Vessel) or Senior Marine Engineer in a Major Port. Selection is on merit, judged mainly from your recent ACR/APAR record.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Crucial date: your qualification and experience are checked as on 1 April 2027, the day the post falls vacant, not as on the closing date.
• APAR benchmark: your overall grading in the ACRs/APARs must not be below "Very Good".
• Certificate: you need a MOT I Class Motor Certificate or a Marine Engineer Officer Class I Certificate under the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.
• No withdrawal: if you pull out after the Service Selection Committee selects you, you can be barred from all Deputy HoD-level posts in every Major Port Authority for two years, under the Ministry's letter dated 11.08.2021. You also sign an undertaking to this effect.
• Vigilance record: your port must send a vigilance and administrative clearance, and disclose any major or minor penalty from the last 10 years along with the case papers.
• Probation: if your Recruitment Rules need it, attach the order confirming you completed probation in the feeder post.

Application Submission Notes

Fill the prescribed form (Annexure-II) and send it through proper channel, with your Competent Authority's approval, to The Secretary, Cochin Port Authority, Willingdon Island, Cochin 682009. Write "Application for the post of Marine Engineering Superintendent under Cochin Port Authority" on the envelope.

Applications without the ACRs/APARs or other required papers are rejected. If you send an advance copy, the proper-channel application must still reach the port within 15 days of the last date, or your candidature will not be considered.
