NLC India Limited, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, is hiring 875 Apprentices for the 2026-27 batch under the Apprentices Act, 1961. This recruitment is open only to Wards of NLCIL Project Affected Persons (PAPs) whose house or land was acquired after 1 July 1989 for Neyveli projects. You can apply online if you have passed ITI, Diploma, Engineering, or Non-Engineering graduation in an eligible trade. The last date to apply online is 11 August 2026.
NLC India Limited (NLCIL) Apprentice Recruitment 2026 - 875 Posts
NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a Navratna Government of India Enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, operates coal and lignite mines and power plants, mainly around Neyveli in Tamil Nadu. The company has released Advertisement No. L&DC/02/2026 to engage 875 apprentices across four categories — Trade Apprentice, Engineering Graduate Apprentice, Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentice, and Technician (Diploma) Apprentice — for a training period of one year. Only Wards of NLCIL Project Affected Persons (PAPs) can apply — this is not open to the general public. Candidates who passed their qualifying exam between 2022 and 2026 can apply (this year restriction does not apply to ITI candidates).
This apprenticeship scheme is specifically designed to benefit families whose land or homes contributed to NLC India's Neyveli operations, giving them structured skill training under the Apprentices Act.
Vacancy Breakdown by Discipline
Trade Apprentices (352 Slots, ITI Qualification):
- Fitter: 63 slots
- Mechanic (Diesel): 63 slots
- Mechanic (Motor Vehicle): 60 slots
- Electrician: 55 slots
- Stenographer: 55 slots
- Turner: 23 slots
- COPA (Computer Operator and Programming Assistant): 15 slots
- Welder: 10 slots
- Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic: 5 slots
- Wireman: 3 slots
The remaining 523 slots are for the Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentice, Engineering Graduate Apprentice, and Technician (Diploma) Apprentice categories, covering disciplines such as Commerce, Computer Science, Computer Application, Business Administration, Geology, Chemistry, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Civil, Instrumentation, Chemical, Mining, and Electronics and Communication.
Who Can Apply?
Trade Apprentice (ITI Qualification):
- You need an ITI Certificate under the Craftsman Training Scheme in the respective trade from a recognized institute.
Engineering Graduate Apprentice:
- You need a regular full-time Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline from a recognised university.
Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentice:
- You need a regular full-time Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Commerce, Computer Science, Computer Application, Business Administration, Geology, Chemistry, and more) from a UGC-approved university.
Technician (Diploma) Apprentice:
- You need a regular full-time Diploma in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline from a recognised board or university.
Special Eligibility Condition (Mandatory for All Categories):
- You must be a Ward of an NLCIL Project Affected Person (PAP) whose house or land was acquired by NLC India Limited on or after 1 July 1989 for Neyveli projects. A valid PAP certificate is mandatory.
- You should not have previously undergone, or currently be undergoing, apprenticeship training at NLC India Limited or elsewhere.
- You should not have 1 year or more of work experience.
- Candidates should have passed the qualifying exam in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 (this condition does not apply to ITI candidates).
Note: Completing this apprenticeship does not entitle you to claim any right for temporary or permanent employment in NLC India Limited — it is purely a skill training program under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
Age Limit
- You should have completed 18 years of age, as required under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
- Reservation: SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates get reservation benefits as per the Apprentices Act. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates must submit a valid certificate issued from 1 April 2026.
Salary
- Trade Apprentices will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 12,000.
- Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentices will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 12,524, of which Rs. 4,500 will be paid by the Government under the DBT scheme.
- Stipend rates for Engineering Graduate and Technician (Diploma) Apprentices will be as per the applicable government norms.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is purely merit-based — there is no written exam or interview:
- Trade Apprentices: Selected based on the percentage of marks you scored in the qualifying ITI examination.
- Engineering Graduate, Non-Engineering Graduate, and Technician Apprentices: Selected based on the percentage of marks or CGPA you scored in your final qualifying Bachelor's Degree/Diploma examination.
If two candidates score the same percentage, preference goes to the older candidate based on date of birth.
