NHPC Limited, a Government of India Navratna enterprise in the power sector, has released Advertisement No. NH/TA/03/2026 for Consultant (Security). The role is for security review, security coordination and planning for NHPC projects, power stations, joint ventures and subsidiaries. This post is for retired senior security officials with strong field experience, not for fresh candidates.

Scope of Work

The Consultant (Security) role is focused on reviewing and improving security arrangements at NHPC locations. You may need to visit projects, power stations, joint ventures and subsidiaries when NHPC requires a security review. The work includes studying existing security systems and giving practical recommendations for improvement.

• Security Review: Visit NHPC project sites and assess security arrangements.
• Force Deployment Survey: Work with CISF, State Police, CRPF and other agencies for survey or re-survey of security force strength.
• Liaison Work: Coordinate with senior officials of Government of India, State Governments, police and paramilitary forces for security issues.
• Security Planning: Prepare security plans for NHPC projects and power stations.
• Cost Control: Suggest ways to reduce security expenditure without weakening essential security needs.

Who Can Apply?

• Retired Officer Requirement: You must have retired from the Army, Central Armed Police Forces, Police Organization or State Police.
• Required Level: You should have served as Inspector General, Additional Director General, Director General or equivalent level officer.
• Pay Matrix Level: The notice mentions equivalent retired officers from Pay Matrix Level 14, 15, 16 or 17.
• Experience: You should have at least 20 years of experience in the relevant security field.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.

Age Limit

• Your age should not be more than 63 years.
• The age will be checked on the closing date of application, 1 June 2026.
• The contract can be extended on mutual consent, but not beyond the age of 65 years.

Salary

• The monthly salary is a fixed consolidated amount.
• NHPC will calculate it by deducting your basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement.
• The fixed amount will remain unchanged during the contract period, with no increment or percentage increase.
• Mobile/telephone reimbursement: Up to Rs. 4,000 per month for Pay Matrix Level 16/17 and up to Rs. 3,000 per month for Pay Matrix Level 14/15.
• Travel/DA: Paid as per the applicable NHPC entitlement level mentioned in the notice.
• Leave: Paid leave is allowed at 1.5 days for each completed month of service.

Contract Terms and Workplace

The contract period is initially 1 year. NHPC may extend it by mutual consent, but the extension cannot go beyond the age of 65 years. The post is temporary in nature and can be ended by either side with 15 days notice.

The headquarter is NHPC Corporate Office, Sector-33, Faridabad. Even though the headquarter is Faridabad, the consultant may have to visit NHPC projects, power stations, offices, units, joint ventures and subsidiaries across India for security matters. The engagement is on a full-time basis, and the consultant cannot take another assignment during the contract period.

Office timing follows NHPC requirements. The notice says the consultant may be called on Saturday, Sunday or gazetted holidays in urgent cases, and no extra salary will be paid for that.

Selection Process

NHPC will select candidates through shortlisting and personal interview.

1. Eligibility Check: NHPC will check whether you meet the retired officer level and relevant experience requirement.
2. Experience Shortlisting: Shortlisting will be based on relevance of experience, with at least 20 years of relevant security experience required.
3. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be selected through Personal Interview by an expert panel.
4. Travel Reimbursement: Candidates called from beyond 30 km from the interview venue may get eligible fare reimbursement as per the notice.
