If you have a postgraduate degree in any Social Science subject with at least 55% marks, you can apply online. The final date is 28 August 2026, the interview is on 2 September 2026, and the salary is Rs. 37,000 per month.
NFSU Research Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) has announced a purely contractual Research Assistant position for the project “The Societal and Human Impact of Forensic Science in Strengthening Justice and Protecting Rights in India: Forensic Science & Humanity.” The research is funded by ICSSR and is based at the university’s Gandhinagar campus in Gujarat.
The initial contract is for 6 months. It may be extended up to 24 months after periodic assessment, so continuation depends on the project’s needs and the Research Assistant’s work. This is not a regular university appointment, and the notification does not promise extension beyond the assessed project period.
The role brings together social-science fieldwork and forensic-science policy research. You will work under the Project Director, collect information directly from the field, speak with participants through interviews, and help turn the collected material into useful quantitative and qualitative findings.
Who Can Apply?
- Essential qualification: You need a postgraduate degree in any Social Science discipline with at least 55% marks.
- Preferred qualification: NET, M.Phil. or Ph.D. holders will receive preference.
- Subject scope: The notice accepts any Social Science postgraduate discipline rather than naming a single subject.
- Research fit: Your application should show that you can handle field data, interviews and basic quantitative and qualitative analysis.
The official notice does not set a minimum number of experience years or an age limit. It also does not make NET, M.Phil. or Ph.D. compulsory; these are preferred credentials, while the postgraduate degree and 55% marks are the essential academic requirement.
Use your CV to show relevant coursework, dissertation work, surveys, interviews, data handling or other research exposure. Keep every claim accurate because you must present original supporting documents at the interview.
Salary
- The Research Assistant will receive a fixed salary of Rs. 37,000 per month.
- The notification does not list HRA, DA, travel allowance or any separate benefit in addition to the monthly amount.
- No TA or DA will be paid for attending the 2 September 2026 interview.
The stated amount is monthly project pay, not a regular university pay scale. Plan your interview travel accordingly because NFSU has clearly said that interview travel costs will not be reimbursed.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
The notification announces an interview on 2 September 2026 and does not describe a written examination. NFSU will first receive online applications and then assess applicants through the interview and document check.
- Online application review: The project team checks whether your postgraduate degree, marks and submitted details meet the notice.
- Interview: Applicants attend the interview at the School of Behavioural Forensics in Gandhinagar on 2 September 2026.
- Document check: Bring originals and one self-attested photocopy set so NFSU can compare them with your application.
- Final selection: The university chooses the person whose academic background and research ability best fit the project work.
No question count, marks, syllabus or negative marking has been announced because this is an interview-based project recruitment. Prepare to discuss your social-science training, field methods, interview experience and approach to basic data analysis.
