NCERT is the apex body that develops school curricula, textbooks and teaching-learning material for India, and DEL specifically works on language education resources. These posts are purely temporary and project-based, and selected candidates may be required to join immediately. This is a good opportunity for editors with school textbook or publication experience who are proficient in English, Hindi, or Urdu.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: Bachelor's degree from a recognized university AND a Post Graduate Diploma in Book Publishing / Mass Communication / Journalism, with editing as one of the subjects.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in editing, producing, planning and supervising publications — especially school textbooks, monographs and reports — in a responsible capacity.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of book production techniques, modern printing processes, and typography. You should be proficient in English, Hindi and Urdu, along with word processing and online editing.

If you are claiming experience with a consolidated salary of Rs. 40,000 or more, you must bring an attested salary slip, bank statement or ITR as proof at the interview. Time spent pursuing an M.Phil or Ph.D. does not count towards your editing/publication experience.
