Mumbai Port Authority Joint Director Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, has released Recruitment Notice No. GAD/P/RECT-P&R/1477 dated 27 April 2026 for filling one Joint Director post on deputation basis. The post can be filled by officers of Central Government, State Government, Union Territory Administration, Public Sector Undertakings or Autonomous Bodies (other than Major Ports). Selection is by merit for which overall grading in APARs should not be below "Very Good".

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• Degree: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Applications or Operational Research from a recognised university or institution
• Experience: 12 years of executive experience in P&R / EDP / E&T Division in:
  • Planning, OR
  • Collection and interpretation of data or conducting field surveys, OR
  • Electronic Data Processing / Information Technology, OR
  • Electronics and Communication

Desirable

• Post Graduate degree/diploma in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, OR
• PG Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, MIS, Systems, Computer Applications or Business Admin (with specialisation in Systems/Information Systems/MIS/IT)

Other Requirements

• Officers must be holding analogous posts or Sr. Dy. Director (Research/EDP) posts in the scale of Rs. 13,000-18,250 with 3 years regular service in PSUs/Govt. organisations
• Overall APAR grading for last 5 years should not be below "Very Good"

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 42 years (as per Recruitment Rules)
• For deputation, age limit is generally relaxed as per government rules
• The crucial date for eligibility criteria will be 29 June 2026

Salary

• Pay scale: Rs. 80,000 - Rs. 2,20,000 per month
• Selected candidates will get pay as per deputation rules of Government of India
• Plus admissible allowances including DA, HRA (if not residing in MbPA quarters), TA and other benefits

Selection Process

Selection is by merit based on review of APARs and service records:

1. Application Screening: Applications received through proper channel by the closing date
2. APAR Review: Overall grading of APARs for the last 5 years (2020-21 to 2024-25) should not be below "Very Good"
3. Document Verification: Review of educational qualifications, experience certificates, NOC and vigilance clearance
4. Services Selection Committee: Final selection by the committee based on merit

There is no written exam for this deputation post. Selection is purely merit-based.

• Lead the Planning & Research (P&R) / EDP / E&T Division of Mumbai Port Authority
• Manage data collection, interpretation and statistical analysis for port operations and planning
• Oversee Electronic Data Processing and Information Technology systems at the port
• Prepare planning reports, feasibility studies and project proposals for senior management
• Coordinate field surveys and research activities to support port development decisions
• Supervise junior officers and technical staff in the division
• Liaise with the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways on policy and planning matters
