Maharashtra State Police Constable Recruitment 2025 - 15631 Posts

Maharashtra State Police, under the Home Department of the Government of Maharashtra, has released a mega recruitment notification for 15,631 posts across five categories: Police Constable, Police Constable Driver, SRPF Armed Police Constable, Police Constable Bandsman, and Prison Constable. The recruitment is being conducted through various Police Commissionerates, Superintendent of Police offices, and SRPF Group Commandant offices across Maharashtra. This is one of the largest police recruitment drives in Maharashtra, covering vacancies for calendar years 2024 and 2025. Candidates with HSC (12th) qualification from Maharashtra domicile can apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Police Constable, Police Constable Driver, SRPF Constable, and Prison Constable:

  • Qualification: You must have passed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC / 12th Class) examination from the Maharashtra Board or any equivalent recognized board.
  • Equivalence: Senior Secondary examination from CBSE, or both exams through NIOS (National Open University, New Delhi) are also accepted.
  • Domicile: You must have a Maharashtra domicile certificate.
  • Driving License (for Driver post): You must hold a valid LMV (Light Motor Vehicle) driving license. After appointment, you will need to obtain HGV and HPMV license within 5 years.

For Police Constable Bandsman:

  • Qualification: You must have passed 10th Class (Matriculation/SSC) examination.
  • Additional: You must have knowledge and experience of playing band instruments. A practical music test will be conducted.

Additional Requirements for All Posts:

  • Computer Knowledge: You need an MSCIT certificate. If you do not have it at the time of application, you must obtain it within 2 years of appointment.
  • Language: Knowledge of Marathi and Hindi is required. If your secondary school exam did not include Marathi or Hindi, you will need to pass the language exam after selection.

Age Limit

Police Constable (Gat-K):

  • You should be between 18 and 28 years old as on 30 November 2025.
  • Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/VJ/NT/SBC/EWS): Maximum age is 33 years.
  • Project-affected and earthquake-affected: Maximum age is 45 years.
  • Ex-servicemen: Additional relaxation of 3 years beyond service period in armed forces.
  • Degree holders / Part-time candidates: Maximum age is 55 years.
  • Orphan: Maximum age is 33 years.

Police Constable Driver:

  • You should be between 19 and 28 years old as on 30 November 2025.
  • Reserved categories: Maximum age is 33 years.

SRPF Armed Police Constable:

  • You should be between 18 and 25 years old as on 30 November 2025.
  • Reserved categories: Maximum age is 30 years.

Police Constable Bandsman:

  • You should be between 18 and 28 years old as on 30 November 2025.
  • Reserved categories: Maximum age is 33 years.

Prison Constable:

  • You should be between 18 and 28 years old as on 30 November 2025.
  • Reserved categories: Maximum age is 33 years.

Note: Age relaxation for women, sportspersons, police wards, home guards, and ex-servicemen dependents is available as per government rules.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a salary in the range of Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 63,100 per month under Pay Level 3 of the 7th Pay Commission.
  • The starting basic pay is Rs. 21,700 per month.
  • You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA) and other allowances as per Maharashtra Government rules.
  • The gross monthly salary including all allowances comes to approximately Rs. 38,000 to Rs. 44,000 for new recruits.
  • New recruits will be covered under the National Pension Scheme (NPS).

Physical Standards

For Police Constable, Driver, and Prison Constable:

Male Candidates:

  • Height: Minimum 165 cm (5 feet 5 inches)
  • Chest: Minimum 79 cm (unexpanded); difference between expanded and unexpanded chest should not be less than 5 cm

Female Candidates:

  • Height: Minimum 155 cm (5 feet 1 inch)
  • Chest: Not required

For SRPF Armed Police Constable (Male Only):

  • Height: Minimum 168 cm (5 feet 6 inches)
  • Chest: Minimum 79 cm (unexpanded); difference between expanded and unexpanded chest should not be less than 5 cm

For Bandsman:

  • Height (Male and Female): Minimum 155 cm
  • Height (Male): Minimum 165 cm
  • Chest: Same as Police Constable for male candidates

Relaxation: SC/ST candidates from naxal-affected areas get 4 cm height relaxation and no chest measurement requirement. Sportspersons get 2.5 cm height relaxation. Police employee wards get 2.5 cm height relaxation and 2 cm / 1.5 cm chest relaxation.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — 50 marks: For male candidates: 1600m run (20 marks), 100m sprint (15 marks), and shot put (15 marks). For female candidates: 800m run (20 marks), 100m sprint (15 marks), and shot put (15 marks). You need a minimum of 50% marks to qualify.
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Height and chest measurements as per the physical standards mentioned above.
  3. Written Examination — 100 marks: Candidates who pass PET will be called for the written exam in the ratio of 1:10 (10 candidates per vacancy). The exam is conducted in Marathi language with a duration of 90 minutes. All questions are objective (MCQ) type. You need minimum 40% marks to qualify.
  4. Document Verification: Based on combined PET and written exam merit.
  5. Medical Examination: Final medical fitness check before appointment.

For Police Constable Driver: An additional Skill Test (50 marks) is conducted — LMV driving (25 marks) and Jeep driving (25 marks). You need minimum 40% combined marks in skill test and written exam.

For Bandsman: An additional Practical Music Test is conducted to test instrument-playing ability.

For SRPF: PET carries 100 marks — 5 km run (50 marks), 100m sprint (25 marks), and shot put (25 marks). Written exam is the same as Police Constable.

Important: The written exam for each post across all units in Maharashtra will be held on the same day. Keep this in mind while filling your application.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain law and order in the assigned jurisdiction and respond to emergency calls promptly
  • Patrol designated areas on foot or in vehicles to prevent crime and ensure public safety
  • Register FIRs, record complaints, and assist senior officers in criminal investigations
  • Manage traffic flow and crowd control during public events, festivals, and protests
  • Escort VIPs, guard important installations, and secure crime scenes when assigned
  • Prepare daily duty reports, maintain station records, and update case diaries
  • Assist in disaster relief, rescue operations, and community policing activities
  • Follow all departmental rules, attend regular training sessions, and maintain physical fitness standards

Exam Pattern

The written examination will have 100 marks total. You will get 90 minutes to complete it. The exam will be conducted in Marathi language and all questions will be objective (MCQ) type.

  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs (Samanya Dnyan va Chalu Ghadamodi): National and state-level current events, history, geography

Qualifying Marks: You need minimum 40% marks in the written exam to qualify. Candidates scoring below 40% will be considered ineligible.
